『𝑻𝒔𝒖𝒌𝒌𝒊'𝒔 𝑷𝑶𝑽』
Hinata Shoyo had just asked me to join a club with him.
I didn't know how to react, because I didn't want to join a club at all, but I decided I would give it a try. All I was going to do was go home and do homework anyway.
"I guess," I mumbled, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Okay, cool! Come on, my friends are waiting!" He motioned for me to follow him, and I did, shoving my hands in my pockets and looking down at the ground.
I don't know what it was, but I didn't like making friends. It didn't seem like it was worth the effort to me. However, I was trying just then. I knew that High School meant new opportunities, so I took advantage of that.
"Yamaguchi! Bakageyama! Saltishima is going to join us!" The orange-haired boy giggled, and I smiled when I heard his laugh for the third time that day.
I liked his laugh.
"Hi there, I'm Yamaguchi!" The green-haired boy held his hand out for me to shake, which I slowly took into mine. Our hands touched briefly, and I attempted to wipe my palm on my shirt casually afterward.
The shorter boy made me jealous. He never hit on Hinata, but it just irritated me that Hinata took an automatic liking to him. He liked Hinata back, too. I was sure of that.
"I'm Kageyama. You must be the nerd from earlier."
The shortest of the three, a black-haired boy who was standing next to Yamaguchi looked down and held out his hand, which I shook. I, again, wiped my hand on my shirt.
"Yeah, I know who you are," I replied, my voice sounding deeper and more exhausted than usual.
This time, when I took my hand in his, I felt a spark. The same spark I felt with Hinata earlier, actually. It made me happy. More awake. I wanted to touch his hand again. Obviously, I didn't do that.
I didn't like him either. He definitely had a hard time dealing with his feelings for Hinata. He had them, though. It was pretty obvious. Though, Hinata didn't seem to notice or care, which made me happy.
However, the spark I felt with him was indeed weird. I didn't think that would ever happen, but I suppose it just did.
"Okay, guys! Let's go sign up for the Volleyball club!" Hinata jumped ahead, but his hand reached for Yamaguchi's just in time, and they took off running.
It angered me, but I made sure to stay calm. I don't want to have feelings for someone that annoys me, right?
"Hinata, slow down!" I could hear Yamaguchi yell ahead of us.
Kageyama was jogging very slowly, trying to keep up with the two, and I chuckled.
"You don't run very fast."
"Oh yeah? You wanna bet?" The shorter boy pouted, crossing his arms.
"Pfft. Bet what?" I raised a brow, amused by his mini-tantrum.
"I bet I can run faster than you."
"Yeah, okay. Go ahead. I'll time you. I'll run later, and record my score." I lied, taking my phone out and actually timing him.
"On you mark, get set, go." I blandly spoke, watching as the boy sprinted down the nearly empty hallway, then looking back at my phone.
After a few moments, I heard a thud. Looking up from my phone, I saw the shorter boy on the ground.
He had tripped over some schoolbooks and was now yelling on the ground, a hand clamped over his bloody nose.
"Ow!! Holy motherf-" I cut him off.
"Shh. No cussing on school grounds." I knelt beside him.
For a brief moment, when I looked at him, I felt like it was my fault he fell. I didn't want him to fall, ever again. I didn't want him to hurt.
"Oh my god, nerd! Does it look like I care about that right now? My nose! Look at my nose!" He took his hand off, revealing even more blood than shown before.
"Oh. That's gotta hurt." I kept my expression blank, but on the inside, I really wanted to help him. I just wanted to hold him. I wanted to do something to make the pain go away.
"Please help." He mumbled out, and I was a bit shocked by his quick change in demeanor.
"Fine." I hesitated, but picked him up bridal style, walking faster towards the nurse's office. It was near the sign-up room for sports & clubs, so I would just tell Hinata & Yamaguchi what happened when I got there.
"H-hey!" He pouted, trying to fight me, but I just ignored him, continuing to walk towards the nurse's office.
"Shh. Be quiet, Kageyama."
His yelling stopped, and he buried his face in my chest without saying a thing.
And I liked it.
