『𝑺𝒖𝒈𝒂'𝒔 𝑷𝑶𝑽』

"Okay guys, Daichi will be out in a moment. He's just busy talking to Takeda Sensei & Coach Ukai about the lack of first-years on the team this year. I'll begin stretching. Okay?" I smiled at the rest of the club.

There weren't many people this year. Not many at all.

Asahi, Kiyoko, Daichi & I were the third-years, Tanaka, Noya, Kinoshita, Narita, & Ennoshita were the second-years. That's all.

No first-years have shown up yet.

We all hoped that there would be some outstanding players coming in from Junior High this year, but it looks like none of the talented people we watched in the tournament even decided to come to this school, nevermind join this club.

That was why we were always called the wingless crows. It made me feel like we didn't have that many good players on our team, which was untrue. There were many players at Karasuno who could've gone to another school based on their skills. A different school. A better school.

I couldn't speak for anyone but myself at the time, but I wasn't sure why I wanted to go to Karasuno in Junior High. I just ended up here.

I love it though. The players became more than a team, they were my family. I loved spending my first and second years in high school with Daichi, Kiyoko, & Asahi. I had wished that we could be in the volleyball hall of fame, though. However, I figured out that my ideas were far-fetched.

As I was leading the stretches, Daichi & Coach Ukai burst into the room.

We all turned our heads their way.

"Huh..?" I tilted my head, and Daichi smiled at us.

"First-years. There are four first-years outside. They're going to join the team."

"Wait, really?" Noya bolted up, grinning.

"Yep. They're with Takeda right now." Coach Ukai smirked, walking further into the gym and sitting on the bleachers. Daichi took over stretching after thanking me, and continued to talk about them.

"Yeah, they're all super tall, too. It's insane." He started lunges, the team following him.

"How tall?" Tanaka asked.

"I dunno exactly, but the shortest one is like, 5'10", maybe 5'9"." We all widened our eyes.

"There's one that's wicked tall, too. An orange-haired kid." Coach added from his seat.

"Oh, wow. Okay." Kinoshita stared at the ground, Narita doing the same.

"What's wrong?" I asked, looking at him with my caring expression.

"We were looking forward to not being bench-warmers this year," Narita added.

"Yeah, all we do is pass out water and stuff. We're never actually helpful." Kinoshita continued.

"That is so not true!" Noya & Tanaka yelled at the same time.

"Noya & Tanaka. Volume check, please. Inside voices." I hushed them, and Asahi tried to get Noya to stop poking Narita in the back.

"I swear to god, children. Hush." Daichi finished stretching, and we all just crossed our legs, chatting.

"How long does it take the first-years to get ready!?" Tanaka whined.
