"Ok, so we have cereal in the cabinet, you can eat it when you like or in case Haruto needs it while watching Finding Dory." Mrs. Hamada gave hasty instructions to Asahi before she and her husband left for the airport. Asahi could barely concentrate because all he thought of was Haruto's face each time he got sentimental watching a kids' movie. "I know what your snickering at, Asahi! Don't laugh at me, Dory lost her way home and there's nothing worse than losing your memory and forgetting your address..." Haruto said from the other end of the living room, already sniffling at the thought. "Oh god, I'm gonna have to prepare his Fruity Pebbles again." Asahi sighed. "Serves you right for teasing your friend. Anyway, here's some cash. Keep it safe and use it only when you have to, ok?" Mrs. Hamada said, putting a wad of money in Asahi's hand. Mr. Hamada came downstairs with the luggage and it was time for the adults to depart. They said their goodbyes and left the boys in hopes that they wouldn't find them on the streets by the time they came back.
Just as the Hamada parents' cab was out of view, Asahi proposed an idea. "Hey, I remember you took your surfboard from your backyard and I have mine too. Wanna go surfing?" Haruto didn't need to answer. He was already on his way upstairs to change into a more summer-themed outfit. "Hey, wait up!" Asahi yelled and rushed upstairs after the younger.
"You know, we really don't need to wear these tacky t-shirts." Asahi complained as he watched Haruto button up his tropical-designed shirt. "Shut up and stop complaining. At least I'm doing your buttons for you." "...You do know you're doing this by your own will, right?" Haruto just rolled his eyes, grabbed his surfboard and left his friend behind, again. Asahi had to run all the way downstairs with his own surfboard and lock the door behind him.
"Let's visit the beach, I don't think it'll be too crowded at this time." Haruto said, and Asahi agreed. They had to flag down a cab since neither of the could drive, and even if they did, they wouldn't trust each other to safely transport the other anywhere.
The cab took the duo to their destination and once they'd paid for the ride, Asahi and Haruto strutted past everyone trying to look cool. They failed miserably, to say the least. Asahi tried his best to make his way across the uneven ground, but unfortunately tripped and face-planted into the sand. Haruto slapped his forehead, looked down at the older and said, "You really can't do anything right, can you?" Asahi didn't even need to take a glance at Haruto before pulling his leg in a swift movement, making him fall onto the ground as well. "Farewell, my fame." The younger said, not bothering to lift his head. "As if you had any in the first place." "Good point."
