"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING HERE." My dad yelled at Ashton, who let me tell you almost jumped out of his seat."Hi daddy, how are you?" I said nervously, trying to ease the tension in the room.
"Hi sweety, I'm not here to talk about me, how are you. I heard from Kristin what happened. And let me tell you that boy is not going to get away with it. That being said" My dad turned to Ashton. "Like I said before, what do you think you're doing here Ashton. Haven't you done enough damage on my daughter?"
Ashton still looked scared and stood up from his seat. "I am the one who found her and took her to the hospital sir. I wanted to know she was okay if that is okay with you sir." He said nervously.
"Do I have to remind you what I said, at the dinner when I first met you?" My dad said sternly. He walked over to the other side of the bed, gave me a quick peck on my forehead and walked over to where Ashton was standing.
"No sir, you told me that you wanted my word that I would never hurt her again." Ashton stood nervously as he told my dad what he told him.
"And what did you do?"
"I broke my promise and hurt her again. But--" He tried to explain himself.
"No, you broke your promise. My daughter cried for weeks before she finally moved back here. Do you know how much you hurt her? How hard it was for me and her mother to look at our only child, broken? She almost never left her room, barely ate anything and just stayed in her bed. Because of you."
I didn't know I hurt my parents this much by being almost depressed. A tear fell down my cheek and quickly wiped it away before someone else saw.
"I didn't mean to hurt her." Ashton said softly, with a broken voice.
"But you did. How do I know you won't do it again?" My dad said in a serious tone.
"I can't, even if I wanted to. Not that I want to. I can't live without her. I literally can't"
My mom walked in the room. "Hi sweety, I talked to the doctor, you should be able to leave at noon. They want to keep you here for observation a few more hours." She gave me a hug and took a seat beside my bed. "How are you feeling." My mom was or completely ignorant to the fact that dad and Ashton were kind of fighting or just chose to ignore it. Probably the first option.
"I'm okay, still kind of feel like vomiting but I don't feel woozy anymore." I gave her a weak smile.
"That's good." She looked around the room, and saw dad and Ashton standing beside each other.
"Hi Emma" Ashton said shyly. When Ashton and I were dating, my parents insisted that Ashton called them by their first names. Even though he was never really comfortable with it.
"Oh no it's Mrs. Cross for you. You lost the right to call me by my first name when you hurt my baby girl." She said angrily. I guess both my parents hate Ashton. Not that I really blame them.
"I think it is time for you to go Ashton, me and Emma are here now to look after Evie. Like my wife said you only hurt our daughter so if we have anything to say about it, you stay away." My dad said in a serious tone.
"No dad, he took care of me. He can stay." I replied in a stern tone, so that they would know I was serious.
"It's okay Evie, I will text you later okay?"
"No, you will not, like I said before, you're going to stay away." Dad said.
"With all due respect sir, you know I can't do that." Ashton replied to my dad. My dad looked at Ashton and then at me. As he studied me, looking for a reason why he would say that he couldn't stay away. And he found it, the mark on my neck.
