It was around 8 pm, the night of Evie's first shift. Kristin and I decided to stay behind to give her some space. The first shift is hard, so she needed to stay calm. I was sitting on the couch with my sweet mate in my arms.

"How do you think it's going with Evie?" She asked.

"She will be fine, have faith, she's strong."

"Yeah, she is." She was quiet for a while and looked at her phone.

"What's wrong?" I worried; Kris is never quiet.

"Uhm I kind of told my mom about you, and she uhm. She wants to meet you." She said quietly.

"Sure, when?"

"Now?" She replied, like she's questioning it herself.

"Oh, uhm okay, let's go I guess."

"Wait are you serious? You don't have to; I can come up with an excuse that we're too tired or you're too busy with pack stuff of --" I silenced her with a kiss.

"Babe it's okay. I mean we leave Friday. I understand your parents want to know who their daughter is leaving with. I mean if it were our daughter I wanted to know too."

"You think about our kids?" She said kind of shocked.

"Of course, don't you?" I asked a cautiously. Is it not normal to think that far ahead? I mean she's my mate. The only girl I ever want to be with, she is my future.

"I mean, I want kids someday. But not in the near future. So, no I haven't really thought about it. I'm sorry." She looked away.

"Hey" I took her chin and made her look at me. "Don't worry okay, we'll take it slow. I know some mates have kids within the first year they meet each other, but we don't have to be like that okay. If you want to wait a year, or five of hell even ten, I'll wait till you are ready. I don't want to force anything." She smiled. "There is that smile I love so much."

"You love me?" I just said that out loud, didn't I.

"Yeah, I do, I loved you the moment I saw you."

"I love you too." She said and gave me a sweet kiss. Before I could deepen it, she pulled away.

"Now let's go meet the parents."

"Be prepared, she can be a bit much."

We were sitting in the car talking about sweet nothings, like favorite colors, music, food everything. I loved these kinds of moments, just listening to her getting excited about stuff. The way her nose moved when she doesn't like anything or the way her eyes almost sparkle when she's excited about something.

About 10 minutes later we arrived at a suburban area. We drove down the street and pulled up to a two-story grey brick house. The house had a small garden, with some grass and flowers. We walked up to the porch and I was beginning to get nervous. I know her parents know about wolves, as they kind of are, but still, this isn't easy.
