"Wait, is that her?"
"Oh my gosh, I can't believe this."
"She kind of looks uglier in real life."
"I know, right?"Mirae wasn't the type to loathe attention; but she wasn't the type to love it either.
The moment she stepped into school, everyone's heads just seemed to simultaneously turn her way like a flock of hungry pigeons.
Brushing off the remarks and comments, Mirae turned up the volume of her music to the point it could almost rupture her eardrums.
To her dismay, the students continued to openly gawk and murmur about her like she was a mannequin in display.
Mirae tugged onto her magenta school jacket tighter, quickening her pace as she tried to find her designated classroom.
Her eyes lightened up the slightest as she recognised the number etched on the door to a classroom that matched the one written on the sheet that was given to her by the receptionist.
Mirae's delight unfortunately only lasted a fraction of a second before she collided violently into a tree.
No, it was a wall.
Double negative. It was a person.
Touching her forehead in a daze, Mirae winced in pain. That's definitely gonna leave a bruise.
"I'm sor-"
Mirae looked up, politely apologising before she cut herself off when she recognised the individual.
"You go to Saebom?" Mirae asked without thought, a little too loudly due to the music blasting in her ears.
The boy looked at her with a cold, indifferent stare plastered upon his picture-perfect features before he replied with a simple, "Yes," before heading off, completely unaffected by the encounter.
"Na Mirae!"
Mirae turned, still in daze, to the direction of the voice. A smile spread across her cheeks when she recognised the familiar voice who enveloped her tightly into a warm hug.
"Why didn't you tell me you're transferring today?" The girl asked as she broke the hug, a cheerful smile appearing on her pretty features.
"Sorry, Soojin. I forgot."
"That's okay," Soojin replied in an understanding tone, "How did you get to school? Bus?"
"Yes," Mirae replied with a nod, "But... Soojin, I didn't know Suho went to Saebom too."
"Oh. I thought you'd already know," Soojin replied, tucking a strand of her long, dark hair behind her ear, "He's quite the mysterious guy, huh?"
Mirae laughed lightly at Soojin's description as the pair continued to chat while heading down the corridor.
