"Hey. What are you doing?"
Semi and her group of friends turned sharply, faces relaxing when they recognised Mirae, who was slowly making her way up the steps to the group. Another girl whom Mirae didn't recognise was sitting on the ground, face turned towards the stone floor.
"Oh, Mi!" Semi greeted cheerfully, a smile plastered across her face, "You came just in time!"
Mirae held a blank expression at Semi's awfully devilish demeanour and watched her as she took a few steps closer to the girl sitting on the floor.
"This piece of junk just asked why we hated her!" Semi exclaimed in a excessively mocking tone, earning a series of dirty laughter from her friends.
Turning back around to face the girl, Semi bent down to face her. "Want me to tell you why?"
"Because. You. Are. Ugly." Semi said, spitting the words out like venom on her tongue while prodding the girl's forehead harshly with each word she spoke.
Mirae looked away, irritation written all over her face as an amused chuckle escaped from her lips, silencing the group as they all turned to her.
"Hey, Semi," Mirae said, taking a step closer to the girl as she placed a firm hand on her shoulder, "You haven't changed one bit," Mirae continued, staring straight back at the hard stare she received from Semi.
Semi furrowed her eyebrows, side-eyeing the girl before she replied in a taunting tone, "And what do you mean by that?"
"You're still a two-faced bitch." Mirae finished, completely unwavering under the girl's furious glare as her face contorted to an expression somewhere between embarrassment and anger.
"How dare you say that to her?" One of the boys shouted.
Before Mirae could react, the force of a sudden collision between his hand and Mirae's cheek caused her head to turn violently to one side, but her feet stood rooted to the ground.
The girl who was sitting on the floor let out a small gasp, only to immediately lower her head as Semi gave her a icy glare.
"Na Mirae," Semi said stepping closer to Mirae as she scoffed in disbelief, "You have some guts."
"What are you still doing here?" Mirae asked the girl sitting on the ground in a flat tone, completely ignoring the presence of the others, "Leave. Don't make me ask you twice."
Looking up timidly, the girl exchanged a glance with Mirae before lowering her head immediately and scrambling up to her feet fearfully before running away.
Slowing turning back to the group, Mirae caressed her stinging cheek and calmly wiped off the blood from the corner of her lips.
"You think just because you're famous and pretty you're so much better than everyone else, don't you?" Semi jeered, face lighting up with joy when she noticed that she had successfully pulled the strings of provoking Mirae.
"If you mean everyone here right now, then definitely."
"I see you're still trying to play hero, huh?" Semi said, tutting as she shook her head, "Now what would your dad think about this?"
Mirae's expression that faltered for a fraction of a second didn't go unnoticed by Semi, as the girl burst out into an amused giggle.
"Well," Semi began, taking a fistful of the Mirae's hair in her hands, "I could always forget about today... if you apologise right now."
"You wish."
"Oh, so you're still gonna play the rebellious kind now?" Semi sneered, somewhat delightedly, "Well, that kinda sucks for you."
Twisting Mirae's hair, she forcefully made her look up to the sinister smirk playing across her innocent features.
Leaning close to Mirae's ear, Semi whispered not-so-softly, "Because I know a way that would hurt you ten times more."
And she was far from wrong.
