"NO!" the voice of Feather shrieked, but too far away for Ivory to hear clearly. She slunk through the Loud-Place, monsters startling her fur off.
When the Feather-Lifter peeked around the corner, she found Cloudburst confronting the leader.
"Your lies are over," the white warrior hissed. "I told you that you'd lose your blood, and I was right. Good luck trying to run away from me." She whipped her head towards where Ivory was standing, gray-blue eyes glaring red. "You'll need it."
While her attacker was distracted, Feather darted quickly out of the alley, right past the beige and ginger tabby. Cloudburst followed behind, sprinting faster than any cat ever could.
She caught her mother, and they turned into a writhing flurry of fur and blood. Cloudburst ended up on top, pinning the black she-cat by the white mark on her chest. But it was too late. Something flashed right behind them, blinding Ivory.
The last thing she heard was a shriek.
~~~
Ivory woke up startled, breathing heavily. Once her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she noticed that Cloudburst had disappeared.
"CLOUDBURST!" she yelped, surprised that nobody even stirred at the alarming tone of her voice. She ran faster than she ever had in her life. Feather is in danger!
She almost halted at the sight of the bright lights, but ran across anyway. She only cared if Feather was safe, even if she died in the process.
"Nothing will stop me from spilling your tainted blood!" It was Feather.
"I will kill you before you try!"
Ivory quickly darted to the corner and watched the quarreling she-cats. Exactly how they had been in the dream.
"Then I'd like to see you try," Feather snarled, "because you don't seem to worry about anyone but yourself."
"Your lies are over," Cloudburst hissed. "I told you that you'd lose your blood, and I was right. Good luck trying to run away from me."
The beige and ginger she-cat started, and gained the attacker's attention.
"Good luck. . . you'll need it."
Feather sprinted out of the alley, and Cloudburst caught her midrun. They spinned in a flurry of white, black, and red while spitting and hissed at each other.
"This is it, mother," the fluffy white she-cat snarled. "I win."
She suddenly leaped backwards as something large and loud came through the path they were on. Feather didn't have enough time to scramble away; she shrieked with shock when it was too close.
Then silence.
Ivory sat on the side of the path, golden eyes wide. She thought she'd be able to save them, but it was too late for Feather. Cloudburst got what she wanted; the leader is now dead.
~~~
"Cloudburst! You just killed your leader! Your. . . mother?"
"You saw it too, didn't you?" Cloudburst retorted angrily. "You can't play dumb that easily!"
"I didn't see anything except for you attacking a helpless leader."
"She was never helpless! She could've had all the help she wanted, but didn't; because she knew that she had to die!"
"Then what did you see?"
"So you're just going to play dumb, aren't you?" the fluffy white she-cat snarled. "Singe was with Feather; and Feather wasn't retorting or trying to take her place back. She was working with her."
Not believing what the other she-cat said, the beige and ginger she-cat asked, "Was this a vision?"
"Of course it was!" Ivory could almost feel the irritation coursing through Cloudburst's veins. "You didn't see?"
"No!" Ivory was getting frustrated now. "I saw you attacking Feather!"
"She was a leader, was going to be vilain, and a Rogue!" the white she-cat snapped. "I fulfilled the prophecy and I saved us all!"
"You didn't save anyone!"
A low growl emerged from Cloudburst's throat. "Fine, then. If you won't listen to me, try and figure out what I've done for you with two cats." She flicked her tail angrily and darted into the Loud-Place again.
"Wait, Cloudburst!" the beige and ginger tabby called. "We need you!"
But the she-cat was already out of sight, leaving an eerie silence behind that cannot be filled from another cat.
Who will be our raging storm?
