Cloudburst wrinkled her snout. "So what are a couple of group cats doing out here?" She flicked her tail towards Robin, who was gazing into Spirit Lake.
"Out here is Spirit Lake," Ivory hissed. "Do you Rogues know anything?"
"Of course we do." The Rogue rolled her eyes. "We just don't know the things you group cats are obsessed with."
"Why are you here?" Ivory tried again.
"Well. . . somebody told me that I was going to meet someone very important here," Cloudburst answered. "But it seems like they aren't here yet."
Someone very important? the she-cat wondered. Wait—the prophecy. Ave and ground work side by side, while a raging storm follows behind. Robin is clearly ave. . . then I guess I'm ground. . . . and Cloudburst must be—
Her thoughts were interrupted by the fluffy white she-cat leaving through the forest. ". . . The raging storm," she said aloud in disappointment. "We need her for the prophecy."
"We?" Robin finally spoke, running up to her on frozen paws.
Seeing the frost building up on the golden tom's brown feet made Ivory shudder. How frosted was her feet now?
"Well. . . yeah," Ivory said, more quietly. "We're the ave and ground in it. . . and Cloudburst has to be the raging storm."
Robin rolled his eyes. "You're trying to find a loophole, I know it." He flicked his tail and left.
Ivory caught Cloudburst in her gaze. Maybe following her will help with this prophecy, she thought as she snuck behind the white she-cat.
Even though her pawsteps seemed unbearably loud, Cloudburst didn't seem to notice.
After a short moment of sneaking around more, the fluffy white Rogue turned around. "I saw you," she said with a slight tone of amusement in her voice. "You're not very good." She flicked her tail. "You can still come with; I won't hurt you."
Ivory reluctantly followed the new cat into the Loud-Place. . . but it was silent.
"What happened to all the noise?" she asked, mildly shocked.
"Don't worry; the world isn't dying yet," Cloudburst answered, stifling a laugh. "Something is just happening that we are not a part of."
Ivory tilted her head at her. Something is happening?
"Come on." The two she-cats continued through the Loud-Place until they reached an alleyway with a strong scent of unkempt cats.
The beige and ginger tabby reeled, wrinkling her snout. "You're taking me to your Rogue friends so Singe can tear me apart," she growled.
"And I'm telling you this is different." The white Rogue guided her into the alleyway with her tail.
"So they're not going to kill me, but big surprise, they will," Ivory snarled under her breath, glaring at the watching cats.
"I have found the three!" Cloudburst suddenly announced when they were standing right in front of a rock-shaped structure, made of something she couldn't identify.
"What is tha—" The beige and ginger she-cat was silenced by a frilled white tail brushing her snout.
"She's coming," her friend hissed. "She has the other one."
The silhouette of a cat jumped onto the strange structure, and the illusion was broken when she turned around, revealing a white feather-shaped mark on her chest. Her burning amber gaze fell onto Ivory and Cloudburst. "The three?" She wrinkled her snout. "That scrawny kit?"
"That's Feather, the leader of the Singeless Rogues," Cloudburst explained before defending her. "This scrawny kit was with the other. They were murmuring about the prophecy."
"You eavesdropped on us?" Ivory hissed.
"I never said you were my friend."
Feather flicked her tail and hissed quietly to another cat beside her; and the cat left, returning with Robin.
"Robin!" The beige and ginger she-cat couldn't contain her excitement and relief.
"Shh!" snarled a lot of voices in unison, as if all the Singless Rogues were one entity.
The black and white she-cat tilted her head. "Robin? You must be mistaken; he was introduced as Sand from the other Rogues. . ."
His name changed. Of course it did; Singe wouldn't want him to keep it because it reminds her of the groups. She paused, staring at Robin—or Sand—in disbelief.
The golden tom then muttered something to Feather, who nodded, and slowly tracked down to the ground, right in front of Ivory.
"Don't worry," he said in a low voice, "they can be trusted. They're against Singe."
"Well weren't they named Singeless?" Ivory retorted. "I could've guessed."
Sand started by the she-cat's sudden hostility. "What's wrong with you?" he asked. "Just because I'm a Rogue—and mind you, I only became one to save you—doesn't mean I'm any different than Robin. . . err, who I used to be."
"I know, and I'm sorry." The Feather-Lifter relaxed. "It's just that I'm not used to 'Sand', and my instincts keep telling me to fight or flee. . . from you. From everything."
A call from Feather interrupted them.
