I screamed as the whip tore through my clothing. Tears drenched my face and my head started to spin.
"Why are you doing this to me? Why am I here?" I cried out.
He stopped, "This punishment specifically because you decided to hide from me instead of doing what you were told. Why are you here? That I will tell you when I'm done." He raised his arm to hit me again.
"I'm sorry, Ezra, please." My voice was weak and I hung my head. My shoulders were being strained due to my hands being bound, separately, by chains, to the walls on either side of me. I hung there in pain.
After a second he gently grabbed my chin and forced me to look into his fierce eyes. "What did you just call me?"
"Ezra."
"That's not my name. My name is Wade. Wade Wells."
"Wells? Like Addison? Like the mayor?"
"Yes, Addison and I share a grandfather." His gaze was distant, but when he broke the stare he just growled and walked out of the room. "Do not let anyone but me in or out of this room," I heard him say to the guards.
