"What are you doing here, Ezra?" I tried to make my voice firm, but it came out as a mere whisper and a weak one at that.
His close proximity made it hard to breathe and my heart raced. I heard a low growl before he replied.
"My pack came back and begged for me to come back. Pathetic. But, I did want to see how they managed to pull off their plan so I rejoined, temporarily." He huffed in dissatisfaction. "And, you, dear Gwen, are a liability. A liability that I was put in charge of taking care of, given our past."

I jolted upright in my bed. Had that been a dream? Well, nightmare. It seemed too real to have been a dream. I swung my legs over the edge of my bed, and only after they touched the icey floor, did I realize, I wasn't at home. The walls were dark around me and everything was made of dirt and stone.
I jumped and hid under the covers as howls erupted on the other side of the room. Why am I in their home? ...Their den!!! I started to panic and my breaths were short and ragged. Anxiety coursed through my veins and I was frozen in place as the thought settled in.
