Nanami Kento hated to be inconvenienced, and god had this mission become the biggest inconvenience of his life.Go exorcise this curse for us Nanami, it'll be easy Nanami, we promise!
That was a load of absolute horseshit and the higher-ups knew it. This is why he fucking quit being a sorcerer in the first place. He should have never came back, this is entirely Gojo's fault and he was going to kill him the next time they were together.
He quickly and silently approached the curse, lining himself up for a killing blow. It was about time he ended this.
"Zeref! Behind you!" Kiyo's voice rang out through the alleyway.
The curse, Zeref, twirled around on his heel, eyes widening at the jujutsu sorcerer that was rapidly approaching. The curse effortlessly rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding a swift attack from the assailant. Kiyo raised her hand, a tiny silver-chained bracelet dangling elegantly from her wrist. Bursts of white light shot from her palm -- just barely missing the sorcerer and nicking the edges of his clothes which became charred and smoky.
Nanami threw himself behind a dumpster, panting heavily and attempting to gather himself. He was sent here to eliminate just a special grade curse, not a special grade curse and whoever the fuck this girl was. This whole mission had become way above his pay-grade. He pressed himself against the cool metal of the dumpster, looking down at the smoking holes in his suit. This was one of his more expensive ones too, could his day get any worse?
The blonde haired sorcerer let out an embittered sigh, peering around the corner of his hiding spot to get a better look at his two enemies. The curse was tall and muscular, with dusty gray hair and dingy yellow eyes that suggested his insides were literally rotting. I suppose it made sense given the incredibly disgusting gasses that he was able to secrete from his body. The girl however, was on the opposite end of the spectrum. Silver locks flowing around her head as she gracefully hung in the air -- it looked as if she was underwater, her hair coursing and rippling with the wind. Her eyes appeared as if they were glowing, ignited blue flames swirling in her irises. Her whole body seemed to be emanating light, causing her to illuminate the dim alleyway in which they were fighting. She had an unusual grasp on space and gravity, and seemed to be able to manipulate it however she pleased. Nanami had only ever seen one other person with these kinds of abilities, but god, even thinking about that man gave him a headache.
Kiyo came flying over the dumpster, her eyes raging with hatred as she stared down at Nanami with both hands raised in front of her.
Well, fuck. Nanami wasn't quite sure how he was going to work his way out of this predicament. Not that he was all that afraid of dying -- honestly finally getting to leave this exhausting lifetime didn't sound half-bad to him. But unfortunately, he recently found a few people that he actually cared about, and he wasn't quite ready to leave them just yet.
Nanami leaped into the air, flipping backwards over the giant garbage disposal and booking it down the remainder of the alleyway. He knew his limits, and if he stuck around much longer things would have ended poorly for him. Both enemies had techniques that were the perfect match for his, making it incredibly difficult for him to get close to them. On top of that, it was five minutes until 6:00pm, and he wasn't working overtime for those jujutsu assholes.
Kiyo left out an exasperated sigh, landing gracefully on the ground and staring down the alley with disgust in her eyes. Using her abilities was exhausting, especially when using them on jujutsu sorcerers. She hated them with every fiber of her being, but every time she saw one of those stupid navy blue uniforms her parent's corpses flashed behind her eyes. Thankfully, this blonde guy had been wearing a suit instead -- it made it easier.
"I'll follow him and wipe his recent memory. We don't need him relaying any information about you -- you are our secret weapon after all," Zeref's voice was raspy and deep, but as strangely calm as always.
"Okay, I'll meet you back at the apartment," Kiyo spoke smoothly, giving the curse a small nod before he took off after the sorcerer.
She winded her way back through the streets and towards their apartment, which they may or may not live in for free. And if you're wondering how, it's definitely not because Zeref can emit a gas that allows him to briefly control whoever inhales it. They absolutely have not used that skill to effortless obtain whatever they wanted. Well -- maybe they have, but neither of them would ever admit to it.
On the other side of the city Zeref was tailing in on Nanami, who thought he was in the clear. The poisonous cursed spirit managed to get in front of the unsuspecting sorcerer, and emitted a light dose of his memory gas. An invisible but potent gas formula that causes whoever inhales it to lose their very recent memory -- typically anything that happened within the last hour or so.
Nanami had no idea, and in a few minutes their battle would be nothing but fog within his mind. He'd probably just end up telling the higher-ups that he must have hit his head really hard during the fight. They'd send a different sorcerer after the two villains and no one would ever think anything of it.
