I heard the doorbell. This must be Brooklyn. She promised to keep me up to date in school. Since I never was there, the teachers' don't know about me yet. But as soon as I am allowed to go to school I will attend classes there and I'm not interested in having missing chapters. But back to business. Steve opened to door and Brooklyn came into the living room. "Hey, how are you feeling?", she asked me worried. "Honestly, I am feeling great but since I am glued to the sofa and my bed, I feel always tired." Saying the last part I looked up at Steve. "No, you are not tired because you are recovering. You are exhausted because you've got shot in the stomach and you have to recover.", he said strictly. I looked at Brooklyn, searching for help in her eyes but she wasn't on my side. "Marissa, you know I love you, but he's right. You're lucky you're not dead. So these few weeks for recovery could be makeable." "Are you kidding me?! I thought you would get me out of this hell." "Well, I can't get you out of here, but I can stay with you over the weekend. My parents said it was okay. If it is?" She looked at Steve. He tilted his head to his right should and answered: "I don't see a problem." She laughed. "Just make sure to not be too active. Marissa, I'm going back to work now. See you later." He left.

Our first action was watching a Netflix movie. I know, not very creative but at least I wasn't alone anymore. Halfway through she moved her upper body towards me asking: "Are you hungry? We could order pizza or Asian food." I looked at her face. "Yes, I am hungry, but I am not allowed to eat junk food. It's bad for my health and will stop me from recovering is what Steve is telling me constantly. But we could eat a salad." I raised my eyebrows and smiled. Steve wasn't my dad but I respected him. And he looks like he has experience in recovering. She sighed. "Marissa, I'm not here to follow the rules. I mean, yeah for sure you should eat healthily, but one pizza won't kill you. I'm going to order now. What do you want?" I laughed. That was one of the reasons why we were friends. I told her my usual order, pizza tonno, and paused the movie. Surprisingly, just a few minutes later the delivery service arrived and we had our food.
We finished watching the movie while eating the pizzas, which were by the way amazing. We also watched a lot of Netflix. During the sunset, I managed to convince Brooklyn to go on a walk with me. "We shouldn't be out for several reasons: first, you got lost twice, second you got shot and third Steve doesn't know where we are. If he comes home and no one is there, he'll freak out.", she said half an hour in. "Don't worry. I got you with me and I left a note on the kitchen table where we are and my phone is unmuted. But I needed to go outside. I was trapped inside for way too long, so going out for a one hour walk won't kill me." "You should be careful with saying something won't kill you. You almost died.", she laughed. "Yeah, but I almost died. I am not dead and I will not be tonight.", I laughed. Having this friendship was like a diamond. Rare and wonderful. We walked through the empty almost completely dark streets. It was silent none of us said a word. We arrived back home one hour after we started and I immediately rushed to the kitchen to grab the note I left behind. Steve doesn't need to know where we were and that we weren't home and inside the whole evening. As I got back to the living room, I told Brooklyn: "Please don't tell Steve that we were outside, he doesn't need to know. Okay?" She nodded. My phone buzzed.

I'm heading home. Was the text I received from Steve. I answered with a simple okay.
