So apparently you're not supposed to call swords "people openers"

Fifteen days.

You have to spend fifteen torturous days with Urokodaki before Mochi plods into the cottage with a happy meow and a letter attached to his neck with a silk ribbon. You don't know where the fat cat went after Final Selection or how it had enough energy to walk for three days but somehow he looks as chipper as ever as he rubs against your leg.

When you take the letter from him he waddles out of the house with his stomach nearly touching the floor and Urokodaki looks as disappointed as ever when he turns to you. You unfortunately don't have much grounds to defend your embarrassing delivery cat.

The letter reads a simple 'Your sword will be delivered today' in kanji and you sweat drop. At least they warned you before the eccentric sword smith arrived.

You eagerly wait outside the cottage with Tanjiro. The smiths hat chimes as he walks and you nearly drag Tanjiro to say hello. "My name is Haganezuka. I have forged Tanjiro Kamado's and (Y/N)'s swords." You bounce on the balls of your feet "And I am here to deliver them." You start to make grabby hands at the sword smith but Tanjiro is quick to grab the back of your head and force you into a bow before you can embarrass yourself further.

"Hello! I am Tanjiro and this is (Y/N)!" Tanjiro smiles warmly "Please come inside!"

Hanganezuka is already on the floor unraveling the cloth he used to carry the Nichirin swords and you sit in front of him chewing on your nails anxiously as he takes his sweet time. "This is a Nichirin Sword, And I forged it."

Tanjiro pulls you up by the scruff of your haori "Please come inside so I can serve you some tea-"

"The materials for a Nichirin Sword can be obtained from the mountain closest to the sun." Haganezuka easily ignores Tanjiro. "Scarlet Crimson Iron Sand and Scarlet crimson ore. These produce steel that can absorb sunlight."

"Okay we get it, now gimme!" Tanjiro shoves your haori over your head and smiles at the sword smith.

"Wow! Is that right?"

Haganezuka nods "Mt. Yoko is bathed in sunlight all day long, you see. Never a cloud in the sky or rain!"

Tanjiro chuckles as he pushes you inside the cottage "You're going to get dirty, so could you come inside please?"

Haganezuko turns around and pushes his face close to Tanjiro's "A clown mask!?" You cackle from the cottage.

"Hey, you're a child of brightness, aren't you? Now that's what I call lucky."

Tanjiro suddenly turns serious "Oh no, I'm the son of Tanjuro and Kie."

"That's not what he/I meant!" Both you and Haganezuko chime. Haganezuko taps Tanjiro's forehead "See how your hair and eyes are a reddish color? When a kid like you is born into a family that works with fire, It's considered lucky and a cause for celebration!" He harshly pokes and prods at Tanjiro's cheek.

"Is that right?" Tanjiro manages to mumble out "I had no idea."

"There's a good chance your sword will turn red! Right Urokodaki?"

The sword rests heavy in your lap as you wait. The sheath is a lovely obsidian black with painted gold wisteria petals that wrap along the length of the sheath in an intricate pattern. The hand guard is black as well with your custom wisteria crest carved into the metal and a coat of gold paint laid on top of the raised metal. Finally, your hilt is a navy cord that criss crosses all the way up the hilt with three diamonds left uncorded on each side that reveal a layer of gold paint underneath.

If you were going to change fate you were going to be extra as fuck while doing it.

"Come on, Hurry up and draw them!"
