Here's a Sabito special I published on my quotev a while ago, when I was writing it I ran a poll and Sabito soulmate AU won! So here it is, please enjoy <3
You don't mind seeing the world in ugly shades of grey and black, at least you try not to mind. Sure it could be annoying when your mentor who'd found their soulmate had obtained a habit of color coding your medical supplies, or how they would ask you if it was sunny today, or maybe it was when they asked you if their newly bought kimono's color suited them.
Okay, maybe you did mind.
But you'd much rather see the world in black and white than spend the rest of your life stuck with someone you didn't even choose. You could deal with everything else, you're used to creating your own labels and memorizing how Shinobu would arrange things, you figured out that the sky would be different shades of grey depending on the temperature and after a while you could confidently say if it was going to be chilly later on, you even learnt which shades of grey to compliment her on and which to say no to by her reactions.
Today, you decide. It's going to be sunny.
Shinobu's quill scratches the parchment as she writes, stray pieces of ebony hair escape from the bun atop her head and she blows out the occasional puff of air to clear them from her view. You lazily read through the scroll she had gifted you a few nights ago, it's a simple research paper going over the ins and outs of anatomy.
You smile every time you come across one of Shinobu's annotations she'd written when she had first read the scroll, sometimes she even disagrees with the author and you find a parchment piece attached next to the annotation with some glue she was gifted by a shoe maker. Inside you always find a very long rant going over her point.
There's a patter against the window in front of Shinobu's desk, she opens it to let in her crow. The feathered fiend coos as Shinobu pets its black head with a gentle finger. The letter attached to the crows foot crinkles as she uncurls it "(Y/N)?" You hum "You are needed at the Urokodaki cottage."
Your feet hang off the end of the medical bed as you pout. "Why can't you go? You know I don't get along with the old fart. He always complains about how I do things."
"I need to finish writing this report for Ubuyashiki. We both know you'll do things how you want, no matter who says what." A teasing smirk curls at her pink lips "And you seemed to be getting pretty friendly with his student last time I checked, Giyuu was it?" The scroll nearly rips under your sudden jolt.
You flush "I see your strategy, very clever if I do say so myself. But I won't let you embarrass me into leaving!"
Her quill stills, you gulp "Alright, I guess I should them a letter via Mochi. Just to let them know you're not going. His collar is still on right? The one with your name on it? I just want to make sure in case he gets lost."
"You wouldn't dare.."
She rises from her desk "Mochi!"
"You evil hag!"
Thankfully the walk through the mountains isn't too long but the abundance of traps you have to dodge and escape are ridiculous. At least you have something to complain about when you get there. Leaves crunch under your sandals as you duck with only a second to spare, the large log that was aimed at your head sways from the thick ropes holding it up and you grunt. Oh that goblin bastard was gonna get an earful about this!
The cottage is only a short distance away now, three more steps and you'd be able to harshly bang your fist against the sliding door like you always do "Urokodaki you piece of shit! I told you to stop setting up traps, I can only imagine what damage you've done to your student this time!"
