CHRIS
"Hey man! How was the game yesterday," my best bud, Henry asks. I've known this dude since I thought girls had cooties.
"We lost because I missed the shot," I say indifferently as I open my locker.
"Oh," Henry says awkwardly, scratching the back of his head. I don't blame him. I mean, what is he supposed to say? I don't need any of that "better luck next time" shiz.
"Well me and Kaiyah are going to Bobby's with Dejah and her boyfriend and-"
I quickly interrupt him. No one liked Dejah's boyfriend except Dejah herself of course. I don't understand what she sees in the guy. "Why does she date that bastard? She's like my little sister, I feel responsible for her." She was automatically labeled as my little sister when I started dating Kayla. She was one of Kayla's best friends, so she was around a lot. I liked Dejah, I just couldn't stand her boyfriend.
"Yeah, me too," Henry sighs. "But she won't let him go, so we just have to deal with it. Anyways it's me, Dejah, Kaiyah, the ultimate douche, Tori, Thy, Kay and Travis. Do you and the beautiful goddess you call bae want to come?"
Henry has a girlfriend but he always had a crush on Kayla. He loves his girlfriend and he wouldn't try to hook up with Kayla because he's a really cool guy. It's kinda like how all guys have a crush on Beyoncè, not so realistic but if their was a chance we'd take it.
I put the school books back in my locker and then close it. "I think she wanted to talk about something private today but I can 'convince' her to go," I say, grinning like the fool I know I am.
Henry gives me a dumb look. It takes him a long time to process things. "What do you mean by 'convince'?"
"I was joking," I laugh.
"Oh, okay."
We walk silently to my car as we push past stupid students who were walking to slow.
Henry stands in front of the passenger window as I climb in and put the keys in.
"Anything you want to talk about before I pull off," I ask as I turn the radio on to 92.3.
"Actually I do," Henry states. "Take me to my place."
"Damn," I say quietly. I was actually hoping he wouldn't so I could spend some alone time with Kayla. Damn, I was whipped.
Henry climbs in the car and I drive off.
"I think Kaiyah is mad at me," he admits, groaning.
"She should if you stay flirting with my girlfriend. I don't care as long as you don't try anything serious. But you know girls get jealous easily. Life lesson." And it was true. Kayla gets jealous if I wave at a chick. One time, she got jealous when I hugged this girl and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Whole time it was my cousin.
"Yeah, yeah I know. But I'm pretty sure it's not that bro." He actually sounded worried. Henry was a cool type of guy. Doesn't really take anything serious.
"Then why would she be mad at you? What did you do?" Girls get jealous, but they don't get mad for no reason unless they're on their period.
I pull into a stop in front of his large house and he starts to speak.
"She asked me if I wanted to marry her one day and I said I don't know. She started yelling at me stuff and said 'fuck you' then left."
"Well I knew she was mad today. She always parties when she's mad." Kaiyah loves getting drunk when she's mad. I guess it works for her to drink until she forgets why she was mad in the first place.
