CHRIS

My palms are sweaty as I dribble the ball. If I don't make this, we lose the game. My team was counting on me, I had to focus. I can't get distracted.

"Focus, or you'll mess it all up. We are counting on you. No pressure." Coach Brown says.

I roll my eyes as I aim for the hoop. No pressure? My heart beat was sailing through the charts as I attempt to make the winning shot. I miss, and I notice the part of the crowd rooting for my team visibly sag. The other team hollers and jumps up and down, while some people from the crowd yell loudly.

Some guys from my teams yelled "Great Job Chris!" Whether they were sarcastic or not, I didn't care. I knew I couldn't do it. I was always bad at basketball. Now football was something else.

My friend Thy says, "It's okay, we always have next year."

My other friend, Travis, agrees as we slap hands with the other team. If I was a better player, I wouldn't have to stare at their faces. I would be the one smiling.

After that, I get my clothes from the locker room and quickly change into them. I didn't bother saying bye, just wanting to get home quickly.

As soon as I reached, I took a needed shower. I was a guy, and I just finished a basketball game, so I was sweaty and stinky. I had to admit that sweat did make my abs look better though. Not that they didn't look good on a regular basis.

I finish my shower quickly. I never understood why girls needed to take such a long shower anyway? What do they do in there?

"Chris, your wifey is downstairs! I'm sending her up!" I hear my mom yell from downstairs just as I pull on my shirt. I roll my eyes of the word "wifey." I told her multiple times that I'm seventeen, basically a man. I don't call Kayla wifey. But she's my mother, so she did what she wanted.

My girlfriend, Kayla, enters just a few seconds later. Every time I saw her, I was mesmerized by her beauty. Her long black hair reached her elbows sometimes in curls, braids, or in straight strands. Her light skin looked lit up when she smiled, or blushed, and her eyes seemed to shine brighter than stars. It also helped that she had boobs.

"Hey, I heard you lost the game," she says, giving me a comforting hug. I inhale her scent, vanilla and strawberry. Best scent in the world.

"Yeah, what a big screw up," I reply, chuckling a little. "I might as well quit the team."

"Now you're thinking irrationally! That's just crazy! I mean, you can always practice,"she says. Always the encourager. Not that I'm complaining. "But, if you do stay you can stay here with me!"

"Why would I want to stay here with you when I can stay here with my sideckick?" I tease. She laughs and we sit down on my bed.

"Do you feel bad about the game you lost," she asks curiously.

I shrug. "No, not really. You made me realize something. I don't really need to play basketball. I have all my attention on ball and I don't have time for anything else. My schoolwork. My family. My friends. And most importantly, you."

"You're doing something you love to do. That's why I don't care if you don't hang out with me," she says. We lay down, simply talking about everything and nothing. It was easy, fun, simply awesome with Kayla. I was a lucky guy to have her as mine.

I wake up by someone making rustling noises. It was dark outside, and my blinds were still open.

I blink slowly and sit up. "You tryna leave while I'm sleeping, huh?" I ask, laughing a little. She had the jacket she came in here with on, and her hand was on the door handle. She smiled and walked over to give me a kiss.

"You caught me I guess," she whispers.

"But why so soon," I ask. I wanted her to stay longer. I mean, I am a guy, and I wanted to make out with her.

"So soon," she laughs, cocking an eyebrow. "It's 10 at night."

I groan and tilt my head back. "Ah crap! Why'd you let me sleep for that long?"

"Because you're cute when you're sleeping. Plus, I fell asleep too."

"Oh, I see now. So you went to sleep with me?"

"Yeah, and it was fun too," she says, winking at me.

"Mhmm. So what you tryna say is that we..." I trail off, wiggling my eyebrows suggestively.

Kayla blushes and walks towards the door. "I have to go now before my mom has a heart attack. I'll see you in class. Bye."

She presses one more kiss to my lips before she runs downstairs and out of my house. I hear her car start and watch out the window as she drives off. I watch until I can no longer see her car, then shut my blinds.

I change into basketball shorts to sleep in and lay down on the bed.

"I'm definitely marrying her," I whisper aloud. I wasn't a player obviously. "Hump and dump" wasn't my motto. I honestly loved Kayla with all my being. She was the perfect girl. Perfect for me.
