Soulmate AU: Red string
Summary: Y/N struggles with finding his soulmate while in the Borderlands
*Y/N's POV*
I stared longingly at the red string attached to my finger. A sad sigh left my lips as I tugged at the string.
All of my friends had already found their soulmates, both in the old world and here in the Borderlands. Yet here I was sadly bumming around my room.
I thought about cutting it once or twice, but I remember my parents said to give it time. I didn't want to listen. I hate waiting.
I wonder if my soulmate is looking for me here. Or did they give up as well. I'm surprised the string hadn't been cut from their side. Maybe that's what kept me from cutting the string.
I didn't want to break their heart. I heard a knock at my door. "Y/N, we're going down to the pool. Get up and let's go." It was one of my friends. "I groaned as I rolled out of bed. "Coming."
*Time skip*
It had been at least an hour. My friends and I were sitting down on some of the beach chairs next to the pool. My friends and their soulmates were acting like those annoying couples people talk about and cringe at. It made me feel sick.
I stepped away from my group and went to sit elsewhere. While searching for a new place to sit, I noticed a group of four people sitting at one of the other sets of beach chairs. Two guys and two girls. They were all really good looking.
I started wondering if one of them could be my soulmate. But that thought was soon knocked out of my head. Not every person you just happened to glance at would be your soulmate, dumbass. Maybe I'm just desperate at this point.
The universe was pretty stupid like that. "Hey you!" I looked up from the ground only to find that the entire group was staring at me. I pointed to myself out of confusion.
"Yes you! Come here!" I hesitated, I was about to walk over to a group of four complete strangers. I soon shoved those thoughts into the back of my mind and walked over to the table.
It felt like everyone's eyes were on me as if I was something they'd never seen before. The girl with the braids in her hair who called me over stood up. "What's your name?" "Y/N. And you are?" I asked in a shy tone. "I'm Kuina. May I ask why you look so upset?" "Oh, it's nothing."
"Do you want to hang out with us?" I sighed, "Sure, I don't see the harm in it." Kuina gestured to the male with the long blonde hair and hoodie.
"Y/N, this is Chishiya. You can sit next to him." I waved hello to the guy. He calmly waved back as he mumbled a small hello. Once I sat next to him the conversation resumed among the group.
Chishiya and I slightly shifted away from each other. I could feel the awkwardness in the air. It felt like I was choking. I glanced down at my hands as I fiddled with my fingers. That's when I noticed it.
The string on my finger was a lot shorter. My eyes followed the now short string to find who was was attached to the other end.
I looked at the owner of the hand and it was Chishiya's. I reached my hand out to him. "Chishiya?" He turned to me as his fingers intertwined with mine.
"Hi Y/N." I felt tears quickly fill my eyes as he pulled me into a tight hug. "I've been waiting for you, Y/N. I spent a lot of time alone thinking about the day when I'd finally meet the person that was meant for me."
I struggled to speak through my tears, every time I tried to speak Chishiya would just hush me and gently kiss my forehead.
"I finally feel like I'm whole Y/N." "Me too Chishiya." Chishiya pulled me into a kiss causing the other three in the group to go wild.
They were all cheering and yelling at us. Once we broke the kiss everyone finally settled down and we started talking again. I look over at Chishiya who had a small smile painted across his face. I myself couldn't help but smile as well.
End~
A/N: Just something a little short and sweet. Just wanted to say that I'm taking requests for stories.
