A soulmate. Defined as "someone that just gets you. a connection of minds, a mutual respect, an unconditional love and total understanding. Being yourself and knowing not only that person is following and understanding your thoughts, but is right there with you, side by side." You see, the thing is, humans have put so much value on that one word.. it's everywhere. movies, books, every social media plays from. but why? We, as a society, changed the definition indefinitely..and have been romanticizing it for as long as anyone can remember. All of us crave the idea of having one, it can drive a person insane. As if the universe assigns a person for everybody, in love forever.. grow old together.
When you think about it.. truly, deeply think about it.. having a significant other is not really a necessity. There's so much love in the world.. romantically isn't the only kind. It's almost as if all the other love in the world cancels out because all everyone truly wants is a partner that'll love them unconditionally. There's so much pressure all around us, even though nobody is directly saying anything to one another it's like we can physically feel it.. being shamed.. no, not in words.. but that gut feeling you get in your chest everytime you see a happy couple online.. as if being 30 and single with no family is a crime.. and dying of old age without a partner being by your side is like losing at life. the depth of loneliness can get the best of a person..
