You always worked the night shift. You'd sleep, wake up, get breakfast at about 7:00pm, get changed and then head straight to your work. This meant you would get one of the late trains to your work. It was nice on the trains, as barely any people were on them, due to the time.

Smiling to yourself, you took your regular seat by the door and began relaxing. You took out a book you had gotten in the week, and started reading. You had gone past a couple of stops now, rarely getting a new passenger. It wasn't until around your fourth stop, that someone came on. You were in Shinjuku now, home to people that worked night shifts. For you, it was the division that got the most passengers. There were always at least three or four. Today, the arrival of a familiar figure brought a smile to your face.

"Doppo!"

Said male turned around to your direction, giving you a surprised look as he spotted you. His cheeks were dusted in a light pink, as you beckoned him over. "Working late again Kannonzaka-san?" He only nodded, as he put his briefcase down on the floor, before taking the spot next to you. "Ahh... Are you sure you want me sitting next to you? I don't want to shame you..." He hung his head low in sadness as you gave him a small glare. "Kannonzaka-san! You really need to stop disrespecting yourself! You're a lovely man who works very hard! Show some pride!" You puffed out your cheeks, finishing your rant with a light smack on the back to your train buddy. He gave you a stunned face, before the red on his cheeks became more visible. "Heh, (L/n)-san. You really are too kind. I don't deserve your praise." His words sounded meek in comparison to yours.

Shaking your head at the tired man, you took one of his hands in yours. "Oh Kannonzaka-san. You shouldn't put yourself down like this. One day you're going to become the best businessman the world's ever seen! Then you'll have everyone begging for a job under you!" You flashed him a cheeky smile, holding his hand up in the air. Someone at the end of your row gave you a strange look, but you ignored it keeping your full attention on the male in front of you.

He smiled softly back at your attempt of cheering him up, placing his other hand around your free one. You both sat like that for a few minutes, hands in each other's while both smiling. It wasn't until the call for your stop came, that you bothered looking away. "Sorry Kannonzaka-san! I'll see you tomorrow though! Have a good night of work and don't stress yourself out!" You rushed off the train, leaving Doppo staring after you. He chuckled at your enthusiasm, slowly retracting his hand from where you once sat. At least he would see you tomorrow.

It stayed like that every time after that. When the two of you shared the same train, you would find your spot next to the other and start a conversation. Your conversations would go many ways. Some about how your day had been, about upcoming meetings or events, his friend Hifumi and his crazy ways, how work was treating you, but mostly about how Doppo should be more confident in himself.

"Kannonzaka-san! Stop selling yourself short! How many times do I have to tell you?"

The male gave you a sorry smile, holding his hands together on his lap. You scoffed, leaning back in your chair. "You really do need to give yourself more credit Kannonzaka-san. Putting yourself down like this isn't good for your health. Just imagine how you would feel if you didn't have to worry about what other people thought because you were confident enough in yourself. Then you wouldn't have to do the extra work people always pile onto you. It's just... I'm worried about you. You're always so tired and depressed that I can't help but think something's going to happen. Please... Look after yourself."

The two of you sat in silence, as the male took his time rethinking about what you had said. You really cared for him that much? He didn't want to make you sad or worried. Why would you even be sad or worried? About him? Plain, old him? He frowned at the thought, but unfortunately you had seen it. "Why are you frowning?" He didn't answer your question, instead continuing to look down in thought. You sighed slightly as the train called out your stop.
