chapter 11: Kane

Ace's P.O.V

i needed to head back if Kane was behind this. This wasn't going to end well.

"Jake with me" i ordered

Jake and I hurriedly got into the car. I sped down the road as white blurs of rain clouded my vision. I couldn't see shit as the sound of the heavy rain filled the silence in the car.

"Ace maybe u should slow down man. You can't see shit out here" Jake says agreeing with my thoughts.

I forced myself to slow down after jakes warning. If Naomi really was in danger, it wouldn't do us any could to get into an accident.

the drive back felt like it took hours i thought as i pulled into the driveway, head lights cutting through the storm. the house was dark, too dark

"why is it so dark" jake questioned

my gut was screaming at me the entire time. Something was wrong. I could feel it clawing at my chest. I grabbed my gun from the glove compartment. jake sensing something was wrong unholstered his .

we got out the car. the second my key turned in the lock i froze.

silence

no TV, no soft hum of her voice. Nothing but the sound of the rain pounding the ground

i pushed the door open slowly, gun raised. jake tailing behind me. where was everyone?

"Naomi" my voice was low and controlled - but I was already bracing myself for the worst

the metallic scent of blood mixed with a faint smell of her shampoo hit my nose.my chest tightened as I scanned the living room.

jake and i both froze.

there she was. blood on the hard floor. towel beside her limp naked body.

i ran beside her

"Naomi...Naomi wake up," I said tapping her cheek gently, panic shaving the edge of my voice.

"Get her upstairs, I'll search the perimeter " he says descending down the hall.

damn.

I scooped her up - her eight frighteningly light- and carried her up the stairs two at a time.my hands shook as I laid her on my bed. She was naked, the way the light hit her skin made my stomach drop. I found a pair of under garments and one of my t-shirts and dressed her as fast as my hands would move. The shirt smelled like me; it seemed wrong but necessary all at once.

After getting her dressed I sang into the chair in the corner, The room spinning with the same question; how did this happen? Raged burned out, but underneath it was an even fiercer ache. I should have been here. i should have protected her.

Fuck!

jake retuned verifying it was safe. he made a quick call to Stacy to check in, then left, telling me he'd handle things on his end.

 I on the other hand didn't sleep. I sat staring at the door, my gun rested on my knee, watching the handle like it was a fuse. every creak in the house made me flinch. hours passed into thin loud silence - the storm outside, Naomi's shallow breaths. I checked her wrist for a pulse till my thumbs ached. 

when dawn stained the grey sky i was still here, hollow and furious, promising myself one thing over and over.id make kane pay.

Naomi's P.O.V

I woke up sunlight cutting through the window. i got up groggy and drained. I looked down to find myself dressed. i was in a large t-shirt that smelled of ace and black lace undergarments.
I gripped onto the nightstand to steady myself.my head was pounding.
