Humanity
That belongs to us
We as a people
Formulate what that means
Emapthy, care, sympathy
What we like to think
Humanity is
But what is empathy
As you stand to the side
Allowing a kid to be bullied
Allowing violence and anger
Empathy is nothing
In the face of that truth
Question why
Why do we allow humanity
To exist as it does
Fear to be sure
Perhaps fear of society
In the social hierarchy
Of being frowned upon
For breaking the norm
Society is wrong
No?
It ought to change
So that it is the norm
To show empathy
To help, to care
It needn't be congratulated
But understood
Then we can be
As we think
Humanity to be
Or more so
Human
