After a few hours in the hospital I've learned that I was only sleep for four hours. Pete must've given me a real beat down if I was out for that long.

My dad and my twin sister came an hour after I woke up. I could see that Mykia, my sister, was crying. Although I didn't see any tears I saw that her eyes were a red, glossy, puffy mess.

Luckily my dad had bought Chinese food with him because I was starved. I wasn't going to eat that nasty hospital food.

After a few interrogations about the fight my family finally learned the truth about what happened. Mykia was furious at Pete, but she kept apologizing that she wasn't with me with it happened.

Mom and dad wanted to question my principle about the protest that was going on outside my school. I wanted to question about that.

A few minutes after the interrogation a group of people poked their heads in the room door. They looked as if they were going to start crying.

"Is this Daniel Smith's room?" A redhead girl asked. She looked about my age.

"Who are you guys?" My sister asked, sounding defensive.

"We're with the LGBT community. we heard about what happened with Daniel and we wanted to send our sympathy." A feminine guy said in a high voice.

When they walked into the room I saw that there were five of them. The feminine guy, the redhead girl, a tall girl with a flannel shirt with dark hair with blue highlights, a tall black guy that was really muscular, and a short old man with grey hair.

They introduce themselves. The feminine guy name was Zach and he was in his mid twenties. The redhead girl name was Jasmine and she was only a year younger than me, sixteen. The taller girl name was Diana and she was also in her mid twenties. Then there was Aaron, the tall black guy, and he was thirty-two. The old guy name was Frank and he was fifty-six.

They brought flowers and candy and cards. I told them that they didn't have to do that, but they insisted. Jasmine was the really nice one. She fluffed my pillows and made sure I was comfortable on every way possible.

"I'm sorry about the protest. That was our fault." Frank said.

Diana held up a hand, "It's not our fault, Frank. Stop putting those narrowed minded people on us." she took a seat next to my dad.

"What was the protest about anyway?" Mykia asked.

"We've recently talked to the principle at the high school and convinced him to open GSA club there." Zach said, sitting next to my mom.

"But then parents heard about it and they went to protest." Aaron said.

"I tried to talk them out of it, but they wouldn't listen to me." Jasmine was sitting next to me. She looked as if she was about to cry.

"It's okay, Jasmine. In order for the city to progress we have to open the eyes of the ignorant people and show them that it is okay to be who we are." I cooed, placing my hand on her shoulder.

"You guys are okay with your son being gay?" Diana asked my parents.

"Of course we are." they said together.

"We love and support our child no matter what he identifies as. He's still our child." my mom said.

"If only there were more parents like you two this city would be a hell of a lot better." Diana said, pouting a little bit.

"Well there's not. The only thing we can do is try to show them that it's okay." Frank said.

But how could they go about doing that? Narrow minded people are always going to stay the way they are. There's no way we can change anything. We just have to hope for the best.
