Greetings and hi,
It is I.
I have come from the pits of burning hell to give you an update about the current situation I am right now.
(aka ph's weird school system)
I've been working tirelessly from around september up until february for a long time. I can't really say that online classes are better than face to face, it has its perks but dude my eyes will pop out anytime soon because of radiation.
I guess I should categorize this whole rant with three things. 1. Grades, 2. workload, and then 3. extra curricular bullshit.
1. Grades
Let's start with the numbers. Grades are just numbers, and your child is just a prop. Or so my mom would make me feel.
Look, I'm not exactly grade conscious but I am quality-conscious if that makes sense? I'm not obsessed in getting high marks because that's not your basis of intelligence.
But I am pretty conscious with putting quality projects. I am a firm believer that in whatever you are tasked to do, the outcome will reflect your wits and creativity. It just so happens that I already gave my 120% but other people had the same grade as me despite giving 60%.
That made me really disappointed, specially when I knew that they were paying someone to do their projects. Specially essays.
That's kinda sad to be honest . . . Because they're not fooling the system, they're not fooling school, they're not fooling their teachers but they're fooling themselves.
Instead of them learning something they're actually just fooling themselves.
You know what's even more annoying? People who do that, and will flex their grades.
: )
Like thanks, I worked hard on this essay for almost 2 days and we got the same grade even though you paid someone. : )
Call me avocado, because I am bitter as fu-
2. Workload
Here's the thing, learning is fun if the lesson is taught well.
Learning is fun if you actually think of it as fun!
Learning is fun if you understand everything.
But learning is not fun when there's constant workload.
After one heap of pending projects, boom, here's another one. Oh wait you think that's it? Nope! Boom, here's another one.
The thing is, it definitely challenges your skills in multitasking but I don't think it's logical anymore when you give 10 pending projects due in a week.
We had it easy, but the younger batches? Not so much. 10 subjects, 5 major 5 minor. One project per subject, all due in one week. Don't forget about their responsibilities at home too.
So yeah, mega radiation in our eyes. Speaking of radiation now let's move on to....
3. Extra Curricular Bullshit
We're in the middle of a pandemic, the least thing that we need is a program.I'm not sure if you guys experience the same thing but yeah, apparently our school just approved of an upcoming program (all done online by the way) which is cool yeah.
Until you realise it's unfair.
Other organizations and school programs were cancelled because of the current situation and to lessen radiation. So why did one program got approved? Man, I don't know but we have so many pending schoolworks should extra curricular programs be added too?
While this constant workload is to train us for bigger tasks and responsibilities, I don't think it's logical anymore.
We're all afraid of the deadly virus. Should we be afraid of failing marks as well?
Most importantly, should we continue working despite not learning a thing at all? Or all of these are just fruitless labor?
So I apologize if I have been inactive for almost six months. If you do have any message I still lurk here from time to time.
(... I still see the positive side of online classes by the way. We're blessed because we can afford to have quality education while in the comfort of our homes, but the least thing our school can do is to alleviate stress from workload that's all... )): )
