The house is a mess, there's cups, food, and clothes scattered everywhere. Cassidy and her friend, Jesse, are cleaning the rooms and bathrooms while me and another friend Kade are cleaning the living room, avoiding the dining room where the person was found. We've spent maybe half an hour so far cleaning, which only allowed us to get a small portion done. I sigh, settling back onto a chair that wasn't full of garbage, and rest my face in my hands.

"Tough work throwing a party," Kade chuckles, "even worse when someone drinks too much and just dies."

He grabs empty beer cans, and puts them in a plastic trash bag. The only sound throughout the house is crushed cans, and the police officers discussing their investigation.

"Yeah no kidding, I'm surprised I'm not freaking out as much as I should be. But I suppose I wasn't the one to witness it like Cassidy," I say, looking up to him. He nods.

"Yeah, she's pretty shaken by that, but being an EMT I deal with this stuff all the time, I see a lot."

"Really? I didn't know you were an EMT. How come you couldn't figure out what happened?"

I sit up properly, eager to hear about his experiences. He sets down a bag of trash, and joins me on a chair next to mine.

"Well, I obviously wasn't prepared to deal with that at the time. I was wasted. But I checked it out, and there was no sign of anything as far as I was allowed to see. The police are taking items that could be used as evidence to see if anyone else was involved or if it was just really bad alcohol poisoning," Kade states, he rubs his hands together, "I just hope no one at the party did anything."

"Yeah," I whisper, "me too."

...

Cassidy, Kade, Jesse, and I are all in her room together. We're all quiet, not really wanting to do much but find out what happened to that person.

"The only thing the police said was that it was either alcohol poisoning, or someone put something in the drink," Cassidy says, "There were like three or four cups by her, so the police are taking those in for finger prints, and they also took a lighter that--"

"Guys c'mon lets go do something," Kade interrupts nervously, "this isn't something to be talking about right now."

"I agree," Jesse says, "let's go get something to eat."

"I don't think I'll be able to go with guys, I'll need a ride home," I tell them.

...

The way home is pretty quiet. Jesse and Cassidy are so hooked on figuring out who did this or what even happened. Kade is next to me, really pale.

"You okay?" I ask sincerely, he nods and lets out a deep breath.

"Sometimes this stuff gets to me," he sighs, "It's so sad."

"Yeah I understand, text me if you need anything."

He nods, and I smile and say goodbye to everyone else before exiting the car.

Jack's POV

"Hey, Luke," I say into the phone, "I need some of that, you know.. stuff."

"Emma isn't home yet, get here quick."

"On my way." I hang up the phone and throw it into the passenger seat. Speeding, I turn all sorts of corners trying to get there as fast as possible. I know Emma's still pissed, like always, I really don't care since I know she won't leave me. I always get away with things, including this. She has no idea I buy from her brother or that he even deals.

I stop the car in the middle of the driveway and run into the house. Luke's running down the stairs.

I head into the kitchen where Luke is walking to. I hand him the money in exchange for the drugs, "Thanks bro," I tell him. I turn around to make my way to the door, but am soon shocked to see Emma walking in.

"Shit dude," Luke whispers, "you gotta hide."

"Yeah maybe that would be a good idea," I duck down giving him a clear expression that he's being obvious. I crawl over to the pantry, quietly opening the door, and slide in.
