Emma's POV

"Hey, Luke." I say, he stands there at the counter and smiles slightly. I cross my arms, and stare at him because I know Jack is here. He sighs, "I had to borrow Jacks car to get to work tonight, I walked there to get it cause he wasn't home."

"Yeah, I'm sure," I tell him, "that explains why your car is parked next to his."

"It won't start."

I roll my eyes, "so if I go try to start it, you're telling me it won't start?"

He gives up, running his hand through his hair, "Jack, come on out, she knows you're here."

We wait in silence expecting him to appear out of wherever he was hiding.

"Okay Jack you can come out now," I say, "I know you're hiding."

Still, nothing. I set my things down on the table, searching everywhere for a possible hiding spot. No sign of him anywhere, so I lastly check the pantry. He's not here.

"Okay, so I guess you were right. Jack isn't here," I tell him.

"Yeah, I told you so," he stands there, seeming surprised.

...

I sit in my room by myself, reading one of my favorite books. Characters are so well developed and incorporated into the plot that we almost don't see their flaws. Even when you know their flaws, you can never not love them because there are so many things they do right, and there's so many things that make you forget about the bad things they do. Only if I knew someone like that.

I could never think of such an amazing way to put together such a good yet evil character, one that melts your heart but breaks it the next day. My phone vibrates quietly, breaking my thoughts.

K- Hey, we found out that alcohol poisoning was what killed that person, better than murder but still not good.

To Kade- What a relief, but that's still terrible Thank you for letting me know.

K- Yeah, wanna catch a movie later?

To Kade- Sure! Pick me up around 8?

K- k

I toss my phone beside me and lay down in bed hoping to get some sleep before seven thirty.

...

I'm woken up abruptly by the sound of my phone ringing.

"Hello?"

"What are you doing?"

Of course, it's Jack.

"I am laying in bed, what am I supposed to be doing?"

"You're supposed to be at my house, I texted you."

Maybe I fell asleep and couldn't see that he texted me, did he ever think of that? Or even think at all?

"Well I'm going to a movie with Kade, too bad."

"You are definitely not going with him, I hate that kid."

"Get over yourself, Jack. I'll text you later, love you."

He hangs up, like always. I sigh, he'll change someday. I guess I should start getting ready. I walk into my bathroom noticing my makeup had gone all over the place. I wash my face, clearing it of any makeup so that I don't have to deal with fixing it. I leave my face how it is and throw my hair into a neat but messy bun. I don't change my outfit at all and I sit in bed to text Kade that I'm ready.

...

I walk out the door feeling the warm wind against my face. Kade smiles as I get into the car.

"Ready to go?" He asks. I nod, and he pulls out of the driveway quickly, and we make our way to the theater.
