Everyone else had moved back into the house. Ian, Liam, Frank, and some woman named Queenie..? Frank and Queenie would make so much noise fucking eachother that I actually suggested getting soundproof walls.

"All right, that's it. I'm going home," I said as Frank and Queenie went at it for the 4th time today.

Monday had finally rolled around and it was time for school. I pulled on a white cropped tank top with some jeans and put a cardigan over that. I pulled on some white sneakers and then did a little makeup.

I headed downstairs where my Mom had left a couple waffles out before she left for work. I grabbed a waffle before going out the door and locking it. I saw Carl leaving his house at the same time as I was so I called over.

"Hey!" I yelled.

"What?" he asked, looking over.

"Walk me to school?" I asked.

"Yeah, aight," he said, nodding his head.

I smiled and walked over to him. He grabbed my hand and we walked to school like that, hand in hand.

When we got to the school, Carl stopped by a railing and was looking over into the parking lot.

"What're you doing? We're gonna be late," I said, stopping and looking at him.

"Got something to do. Stay here if you want," Carl said, looking back at me.

I rolled my eyes and stood beside him by the railing.

"Wassup my dude?"

I turned and there were two black guys walking towards us.

"Hey, whats up?" Carl said as he did some kind of handshake with the guy.

"Word on the yard is we all bouncin after fourth period and postin up at your crib," the other guy said.

"We?" I asked, looking at Carl.

"Yeah. No doubt," Carl said, nodding his head.

"Who're you?" the one guy said, nodding at me.

"Karina," I said simply.

"Aight, Karina. See you at Carl's," he said, winking.

"Catch ya later fam," the other one said while they walked away.

I watched them as they walked away down the hallway before turning to Carl.

"A party? On a Monday?" I asked skeptically.

"Party time is all the time baby," Carl said, smirking.

"I see," I said, smiling.

After my fourth period class, instead of heading to the Cafeteria, Carl led me out of the school and back to his house. Since Carl had bought this place, it had changed. A lot. There was a slide coming down beside the stairs, A d.j set by one of the windows and a lot of alcohol and weed. Everywhere.

People started showing up around 1:00. Somebody took over the dj stand and it turned into a pretty fun party. Until Fiona showed up.

"Karina, what the hell is all of this?" Fiona asked as she brought Liam into the kitchen.

"Don't ask me!" I exclaimed.

Carl came down the stairs and stood behind me. Fiona went around me to give him shit.

"Get your homies outta here. Party's over," she told him.

"I got shit to take care of," Carl said, walking to the door.

"I'm not kidding! Liam's got lice, I gotta disinfect the whole house!" Fiona told Carl.

"Not my problem," Carl said, opening the door and leaving.

"What is with you right now?" Fiona snapped.

"Sorry, Fiona. I'll help you get them out of here," I said, putting Liam on the counter.

I walked into the living room and unplugged the speaker. There were a lot of boos and other complaints as the room went silent.

"Party is over, Now!" Fiona yelled.

People started filing out slowly and eventually the only people in the house were me, Fiona, and Liam.

"Thanks Karina. I'm gonna bath Liam but you can stick around if you like," she offered.

"I might check in at home. Thanks Fi,"  I said, walking out the front door.

I walked across the street and in the front door of my house. I hopped on the couch and flicked on Netflix. I hadn't been in my own house for a while.

I fell asleep on the couch and when I finally did wake up it was dark outside. I decided there wasn't much point in doing anything else so I went upstairs and took a quick shower before going to bed. I was actually going to bed early tonight. I was actually taking care of myself.

"I'm still sleepin," I mumbled groggily, putting my pillow over my head.

"God damn phone!" I exclaimed throwing my pillow off the bed and grabbing my phone.

It was a text from Carl, asking me if I wanted to go over to their house for breakfast. I decided against it because my mom didn't start work until a little later so I could at least have breakfast with her.

I got up from my bed and walked downstairs. My mom had already made some french toast and laid it out on the table.

"Morning sweetie! I was just about to come up and wake you," she said, laying out forks.

My mom seemed different lately. She seemed a lot happier since we moved to Chicago. I'm not really sure why.

"This is delicious, Mom," I said through a mouthful of toast.

"Good," she said before getting up from the table and grabbing her coat.

"Already?" I asked.

"Sorry sweetie, I'll make it up to you!" she said as she closed the door.

"I know you will," I mumbled.

I finished my french toast and decided to busy myself by doing the dishes before I saw a car pulling up to the Gallagher's house. A tall man got out and started knocking on their door. The door opened and the man stood there for a couple seconds talking to someone before Carl walked out.

"This can't be good," I said, putting the plate down.

I opened my door quietly and stood on my porch, looking over at the pair.

"I think I'm gonna sit this one out," Carl said, looking up at the man.

"Sit this one out? You a comedian?" the man asked.

"No?" Carl replied, raising his eyebrows.

In a split second, the man had raised the gun and hit Carl in the head with it, causing Carl to fall backwards and onto the stairs.

"Carl!" I exclaimed, running down the steps and across the street.

I had barely reached the fence when the man looked over at me and pointed the gun at me, causing me to stop in my tracks.

"We got a problem?" he asked, not taking his eyes off me.

I shook my head slightly, still not moving.

The man nodded and lowered his gun, looking back to Carl.

"You in this game for life, motherfucker!"
