Ninjago the forgotten Phoenix (A Kai fan fiction)

Prologue

Fire flared through the building. The air was full of smoke and fire as the old apartment building burned brightly.

"Kai! Kai don't you dare go in there!"
Kai didn't listen. He ran through the blazing fire hoping to find the voice that was helplessly calling for help.
He guarded his lower face with the top of his gi and continued through the scorching flames of the burning building.
"Help! Please help!" Called the tiny voice.
Kai knew it was young by the way it squeaked.

"Please! I want my mommy!" It said through the crackling noise of the fire.
Kai couldn't see anything. The flames effected his ability to see anywhere and his eyes were watering as the ever intense heat clouded his vision. The blazing smoke filled his lungs, making it harder and harder to breathe.

'No, I have to keep going.' He said to himself as he stumbled up the crumbling stairs. Alas, Kai found the room where a 5 year old boy cried on the floor, helplessly calling for his mother.

"It's okay." Kai said though the smoke made his voice unusually raspy. "I've got you." Kai saw as the boy's eyes lit up. The smoke made his throat dry and he longed for water.

"Hang on." Said Kai as he lifted the boy up on his back, piggy back style. The boy clung on to Kai's neck as Kai started running down the stairs to the exit. A giant pole lost it's grip and nearly crushed Kai and the boy. Kai knew he was bleeding due to the warm, liquid feeling but didn't think much of it as he carried on.

Kai saw the exit to the building and sped up as quickly as he could, desperate to get the little boy to safety. Kai knew that the boy was crying due to the hot tears dropping on his neck. He felt his arms tighten in fear and Kai continued to speed up.

"Hang on, we're almost there." Kai said as his voice quickly faded out due to lack of fresh air. Kai chocked on the flames entering his throat and almost lost consciousness as his head fuzzed up and his vision blurred to the point where he couldn't focus on the exit.

"You can do this mister ninja." Kai heard the boy say. Kai immediately felt himself speed up and his posture straighten as he heard the cry's from the boys mother outside. Kai lept forward before the exit was blocked and fell on his side.
He heard the voices of his friends and momentarily saw the boy and his mother embrace in a hug.

He felt his breathes come in short gasps and he felt many injures around his body. He slowly started to lose consciousness as he saw Nya and Zane kneel next to him, saying something he could not understand.

As he drifted off he saw someone dressed as a soldier. All his armory was burning with fire but still in one peace. He wore his black hair back in a man bun and held a staff as a Phoenix sat on his shoulder. He winked at Kai as Kai finally blacked out.

Heheheh. Soooooo what did you think? I'm currently writing the next chapter cause tomorrow we don't have school!!!! So 'till next time,
