Nya's pov
"Lloyd, close your eyes and let the tranquility of the water calm your thoughts." Me and Lloyd had our eyes softly shut and sat on the rocks over the cool spring river.
The temperature felt beautiful and the sound of rushing water calmed my thoughts. Every once and a while, I would glance at Lloyd to make sure he was doing it correctly. Sensei was right, we really needed this.
I continue to think about what the others are doing and why they aren't with us. While getting up to check on them, we hear a series of footsteps marching our way and...Jay?
We immediately hurry over to where we hear Jay scream and find hundreds of soldiers marching through the woods. They all looked like that guy we fought off yesterday except they looked like novices compared to him.
"Lloyd, I heard Jay." I say and he continues to sneak over. "Same here. Did you hear Cole as well?" I shake my head in disbelief. 'What were those two jerks doing again?' I think as we head to their aid.
We get there but don't see them anywhere in sight. I could see a flash of blue and red run by and trying to run after them, I was pinned by Lloyd onto the floor.
"Lloyd! What the—" he put a finger to his mouth as the leader passed by with a spear in his hand, heading toward our friends.
"Lloyd we have to help them!" "C'mon!" He yells and we hurry until we see him stab it through the back of my brother. Surprisingly, he didn't cry out, he kept running. I grabbed Lloyds arm and we ran as quickly as possible to follow them.
All the guys were stopped with an incoming blast of ice from Zane. We dodged as they were covered head to toe in chilling ice. Climbing over them all, me and Lloyd climbed over the wall of soldiers and ice.
We turn right to find them all laying on the floor, panting deeply. Jay was puking on a nearby bush, Cole was on his back just gasping for air. We saw Zane run over to Kai who had a deep wound in his back.
Gasping, me and Lloyd also run to his aid. His wound bled through the red of his gi and his face said pain all over. Seeing him this way made my heart ache terribly because he's not one to show his emotions so it must be bad.
We got to his side and Zane called Cole over to pick him up and bring him over to our tent. He was bleeding out of control and we had to use a clothe and put pressure on the wound for it to even slow a little.
Kai was making pained expressions but kept the sounds to himself. At one point when he was knocked unconscious, he whimpered when Zane put ice over to sooth the pain. I constantly stroked his hair in a 'mom way' to keep him calm.
"Zane how much longer?" Lloyd asked, clearly not wanting his friend in anymore pain. "Almost done, I don't understand the magic behind that staff that he was stabbed with." He said curiously. Kai stirred and I shushed him silently. Seeing him in this much pain made my heart ache.
"When can we move him to the monastery?" I ask. Zane takes a moment to think before saying, "we should probably take him back as soon as he's functional."
"What do you mean 'functional'?" I ask, just wanting to get my brother home as soon as possible. "Once he's conscious." I breathe in deeply and watch my brother suffer the pain. We can't do anything about it because Zane forgot his severe pain med kit at the monastery.
"Just stay with us." I whisper to Kai softly.
Sometime later (cause I lazy)
Kai's pov
My back ached like crazy. I could feel the sting in the cut that was excruciatingly painful. The blood was covered in a bandage but I could still feel it sticking to my back which did not please me.
