"Master this is Bologna!" The man scolded his master with a slap in the face as a result. "What is your substitute plan then?" Asked the man in a tall, deep voice that would send shivers up your spine.

"W-w-well n-no sir but I-" The man's face was hit again with another painful slap. "We cannot finish the plan without him." Said the man with anger deep in his voice. "He doesn't deserve anything coming his way though, please master." The man pleaded. The master picked up his servant by the arm and shook him firmly. "Not. Without. The boy." He said through gritted teeth. The servant quivered and shielded his face from his master.

The master smirked, knowing that he had planted a deep fear in the servant's heart, and threw him aside. "Send the attack team tomorrow, we need him as soon as possible."
The servant anxiously nodded in fear and carefully sat up as if the Master was going to kill him. "Master, I-" then again, another painful blow in the face as the servant quickly obeyed his Master's orders.

"On second thought," the Master continued. "Send them in 15 minutes."

"I need him now."

Kai's pov

I awoke to the fresh smell of bacon sizzling over what had to be a fire. The tent was opened which meant Nya was already awake. I tried to get up but the cool breeze against my face and the comfort brought by the layers of blankets said otherwise.

"Well you finally decided to wake up." Said a voice I wasn't in the mood of talking to right now. In front of me stood Shula looking at me with utter annoyance. "Were you just watching me that entire time Shula?" I asked while covering my face with my pillow.

(Also when I came up with Shula's name, I searched it up first and it means 'flame' in Arabic and 'peace' in Hebrew)
(Although she's not very 'peaceful' right now 😂)

"Well you looked dead." She said as a matter of factly. I facepalmed as 'The Phoenix' suddenly appeared with a smile on his face. "Good to see that you're up." He said in a warm but strong voice that made me feel protected. "Er-do you happen to have another name I could call you?" I asked, not wanting to always have to call him 'the Phoenix'.
'The Phoenix' chuckled and nodded. "If you prefer a shorter name, then my actual name is Kaji." He said with a smile.

(Again, I did ma research like a good child and found this one meaning 'fire, flame, and damage.' :))

I smiled back. "I really like that name." I said honestly. He looked surprised then it turned into a smile. He nodded his thanks and glanced at Shula who was checking her feathers in my portable mirror. "Shula put my mirror down." I said completely annoyed that we both cared about our appearances. "Well how else am I supposed to look so glamorous?" She asked with a flick of her feathery tail. I scoffed as if it was a challenge. Kaji probably knew we were going to go into an argument about looks so he stepped in before we got started.

"Kai, I think your friends are waiting for you." I heard Kaji say just as Shula was about to start flexing her feathers. I nod and send Shula a look to melt metal. She returned it and I just scoffed. No one had better looks than me. I walked out to the crisp fall air. The smell of fresh sizzled bacon filled my nose. Jay and Cole were already sitting by the fire, Nya was teaching Lloyd how to tell the right berries from the wrong ones and Zane was of course, cooking our breakfast.

I smiled at the sight of my family all together. I sat next to Jay and yawned. "Good morning Kai." Zane said with a warming smile. Jay heard Zane and glanced my way. "GOOD MORNING SLEEPY HEAD!!!" He yelled while half shaking, half hugging me. "J-Jay—can't breathe." I managed to get out of Jay's bear hug and chuckled at his enthusiasm. "So me and Cole are having a bet." Jay started. "He thinks that I can't last 5 minutes in the woods, but I'm pretty sure he can't even last 2." Jay said and I facepalmed knowing what was coming. "So we're betting to see who can last the longest in the woods." Explained Jay and Cole continued. "So who do you think is going to win?" He asked and I froze. I then smirked and said, "Cole, obviously." Cole did a 'yes' motion with his fist and Jay gaped at me in disbelief.
