The Phoenixes were more than a gang, they were a family. They relied on one another, swore loyalty on one another. And the one thing that Jaemin believed kept them as the most feared gang in such a big place like Neo City was their rules.

The mains rules of the Phoenixes consisted of five laws, known as the Phoenix Laws. There were the following:

1. Stand tall, with your golden wings on you back. That meant that all members were to always wear their leather jackets proudly, showing off the golden phoenix on their back.

2. No phoenix flies alone. That meant that they would always have each other's backs, no matter what happens. That also meant that a phoenix would never be left for dead.

3. Never lay a feather on another phoenix. That meant that they couldn't hurt each other, no matter what fight was happening between them.

4. Never turn you back to the phoenix flock. That meant that once you joined, you could never betray the Phoenixes, pledging your loyalty to the gang.

5. Together, the empire will never fall. The last law served as a reminder that as long as they were together, their gang will continue to be stong and powerful, ruling the dark streets of Neo City.

These were the basic rules of the gang but in addition to that, there was one rule that Jaemin thought was the most important of all.

The Phoenixes could only date one another.

The first time you hear it, that rule would sound silly. Why would you restrict yourself to only members of the gang when there are so many other people in the world to fall in love with?

But to Jaemin, this rule was one that he would always abide by, no matter what.

As one of the people that was invovled in the creation of the rule, Jaemin will never forget the day Jeno's first love, Seolhee died. Sure, if his medicine skills were better back then, maybe he could have saved her. But at the same time, if Seolhee was a Phoenix and could actually protect herself in the first place, she probably wouldn't have gotten into their whole mess anyways.

Following the rules are so important, Jaemin thought as he sat there at his desk, listening to music as his mind wandered off. Each rule is placed for a reason. If people were going to break them, what's the point in having them?

Jaemin stared at one of his computer monitors, the evaluation report from the hospital up on the screen. It read that Jaemin had done well during his semester volunteering at the hospital.

Jaemin liked helping people. That was his true passion, which is why he went into medicine in the first place. He had never expected that he would ever join a gang, but ever since Jeno stepped into his life, he knew there was no way out of it.

If Jaemin wanted to be friends with Jeno, he had to join the gang. That was the rule and there was no breaking it, so Jaemin willingly joined.

Jaemin heard Ayeon and Soojung laughing outside his room, and although they were all close, he couldn't think back to the time before the two girls joined the gang.

Haechan had fallen in love with Ayeon at first sight, which Jaemin thought was good. Haechan needed some happiness in his life after Mark had disappeared. What Jaemin didn't approve of was the fact that he was putting both Ayeon and his own life in danger by doing that.

The same thing the happened to Jeno, but not only did Jeno fall for someone that wasn't a Phoenix, he had fallen for his lab partner! Even though Jaemin liked Soojung a lot, the last thing he wanted was for him to lose his lab partner in some stupid gang buisness.
