"He's not going to be in Neo City, right?" Chenle asked, staring at the people gathered around the table. "There's no way he's looking for jiejie."
The sudden news of Xiaojun's disappearance had made Renjun let go of anything he had against Jaemin, the eldest of the group calling them in for a meeting.
"Knowing him, he probably is." Renjun said, glancing at Zhilan. "But I barely know him."
That was true. Xiaojun had joined the Phoenixes after Renjun had left for Neo City so all Renjun really knew was that this was the guy that had broken Zhilan's heart.
Jaemin had his arm around his girlfriend, giving her a gentle squeeze. "What do you think, love? You know him the best out of all of us."
Zhilan shook her head. "I don't know, there's not many places to hide from the Beijing Phoenixes but Neo City is definitely a good one. Since Taeyong leads the Phoenixes here, Kun-ge doesn't own any of this territory."
"So you think he's here?" Jisung asked, slightly terrified.
There was a bit more to Xiaojun's disappearance than the fact he was out of his home country. Prior to disappearing, the Beijing Phoenixes had noticed that he was acting suspicious, always wanting to work on his deals alone, or even if someone else was working for him, Xiaojun would insist on waiting outside. These were also many new clients, ones that they hadn't seen before.
It's like he's playing with the enemy.
Zhilan nodded her head. "I think he's here and I don't think Taeyong knows about it either."
"You don't?" Jaemin asked, making the group turn heads. "But he's the leader, shouldn't he know first?"
"The leaders don't talk about this stuff though." Renjun reminded them. "They talk about business stuff but not stuff about members misbehaving. If anything they would keep it to themselves, this looks bad on their leadership."
"Kun-ge would definitely want to keep it on the down low." Zhilan added. "His Phoenixes are already chaotic, this might even get him knocked out as a leader."
"Why did she tell you two then?" Chenle asked, clearly confused.
Despite the fact that Chenle was from China, he joined the Phoenixes here, in Neo City. He had no idea how the Beijing Phoenixes operated.
To Zhilan's surprise though, Jisung seemed to pick up the looks on Zhilan and Renjun's faces, giving Chenle a smack. "Yah, who's the idiot now?"
"I still don't get it." Chenle mumbled, rubbing his arm.
Zhilan smirked, exchanging looks with Renjun.
"That's because we're Beijing Phoenixes."
...
Despite how calm Zhilan seemed to be, Jaemin was the complete opposite. He did not like the fact that Zhilan's ex had gone missing and the fact that there was a big chance that he was in Neo City made it even worse.
"You looked stressed and it's not even exam season yet." Zhilan said as she tugged onto Jaemin's arm, pulling him into bed with her. "Why?"
"I should be asking you why you're not stressed." Jaemin replied as he slipped under the covers beside her. "Xiaojun doesn't seem like your ordinary Phoenix."
"He's not, he was an ace." Zhilan told him. "One of the most dangerous Phoenixes of Beijing."
"Wow, that makes me feel so much better." Jaemin said sarcastically, looking away. Zhilan didn't let him get too far, reaching out to gently tilt his face so he was staring at her again.
