After the election, Cinder was disappointed that she had won. She hadn't intended to, she hadn't even run for president. But apparently the Lunars all wanted her to lead them, and she didn't want to let them down.
Personally, Cinder thought it was a terrible idea to let a seventeen-year old run the country. She wasn't even an adult yet!
Kai knocked on door before poking (I always think I'm spelling that wrong. It looks weird) his head in.
"Hey, Ms. President," Kai smiled.
"Your Highness," Cinder laughed back. "Are you leaving already?"
Kai couldn't stay at the Lunar Palace for too long, because he needed to get back to New Beijing. His people were getting restless, and wanted their emperor back. They planned on visiting each other every week, though.
"I have to," Kai replied. "But you'll still have Winter and Jason here, won't you?"
"I think so," Cinder nodded. "That'll be fun, I guess."
Winter and Jason were invited to stay at the castle, and Winter agreed, ending in Jason deciding to stay, too. Wolf and Scarlett had gone back to Scarlett's grandma's farm, and they were probably going to stay there, living in peace without the pressure of running a flipping planet. While it seemed like everyone was settling and staying in one place (for the most part), Thorne and Cress decided to travel back to Earth to explore the great known. Or, in Cress's case, unknown. She had seemed pretty psyched about it the last time Cinder had talked to her.
Cinder stood up and hurried to Kai's side.
"I'll walk you to the ship," she announced.
Kai smiled. "Surely." He held out his arm to her, and she gladly took it.
As they walked, Cinder's bare foot clanked against the ground, echoing in the silent hall. Outside, she could see people milling around, and smiled when she their smiles. Of course, the little orange light in the corner of her vision was blinking. Even though shells were starting to come out, and they could see through the glamour, the Lunars still insisted on looking 'fabulous' (am I the only one who imagined Lunars looking like people from the capitol?).
They arrived at the ship, and Kai turned to Cinder one more time before boarding.
"What's going to be your favorite part of being president?" Kai asked.
"Being able to get some peace and quiet," Cinder replied. "It'll be amazing."
Kai laughed.
"What?"
He waved her off. "Oh, nothing. Enjoy your... peace and quiet." He closed the door, and Cinder was standing by herself.
Yay! I have a good feeling about this. I hope you guys enjoyed, because I did. It was a little short, and I wanted to jump right to the action, but I figured that what I have planned wouldn't happen so quickly.
On a second note, I'm mostly going to go from Cinder's point of view, but we'll see a bit of the other girls, too. Who should we see next (not Iko, we'll see her a lot when we're with Cinder)?
Thanks a lemon!
