Kai had been kind enough not to tell Cinder about Throne's plan to drop in on the Lunar President's house, and Cress was nearly bouncing with excitement as the Moon came closer into her view, unlike when she was a little girl, trying to block it from her view.

"Almost there, Cress," Thorne announced from the pilot seat. "I can't wait to see her Highness's face when we show up." He flashed Cress a dazzling smile.

"Cinder is just the president now, remember? I recommend not calling her 'Her Highness'."

Thorne blew razzberry (Don't correct me, I know that probably isn't proper grammar. and if it is... I was only smart on accident :D), making Cress laugh.

"Cinder loves me! She wouldn't have accepted me into the missing-fingers club if she didn't," Thorne retaliated.

"That's a thing?" Cress asked.

Thorne pondered for a moment before replying, "Okay, so maybe it isn't. Yet. Scarlet and Iko can join! Unless Iko got that one finger replaced, in which case we will have to emit her from our very high-class club."

"You're impossible."

He smiled. "I try."

Cress laughed again (she always seemed to be lauging around Thorne), and turned back to the Moon. "We're here!"

Thorne docked the spaceship and opened the door. A whole bunch of guards met them there.

"Who is it?" One of them threatened.

Thorne smiled at him. "You know me."

"Oh," the guard replied. "The President will be... surprised. Is there anyone else on your ship?"

"Just me and Cress Darnel," Thorne replied, strutting past the guards. Cress scrambled to walk next to him. The guards didn't stop them.

As they were walking through the streets to the palace, Cress tried not to look at the Lunars, many of whom were casting judgmental looks. She could easily tell the shells from everyone else, because the regular lunars were wearing crazy accessories, which probably looked much better with the glamour. There weren't that many people with regular clothes on, and they were all avoiding eye contact and staying in the shadows. Cress just inferred that they were the shells.

As she walked through the streets, she noticed that the regular lunars were scoffing, rolling their eyes, and casting judgmental looks at the shells, who went inside whenever someone started talking to them.

"They don't look super happy," Cress observed.

Thorne looked where she was gazing, at a little boy with his head down, hurrying away from a group of boys his age, who were laughing and jeering at his plainness.

"That..." Thorne started, then he thought better of it and kept on walking. "Come on, Cress. We're almost there."

Cress nodded. "Okay... let's go. The palace is just around the corner."

Sorry, it's been a while, but I'll have ch. 3 out tomorrow. I tried to hint at the future this chapter, what do you think will happen next?

Thanks a lemon!
