This chapter is kinda trash, but heere you go, enjoy I guess!
Soulmates were an interesting thing. You can write on your skin, and your soulmate will get the writing, and if you get hurt, your soulmate will get the same pain, but anything that could suggest who you are just dissolves into your skin instead of appearing. Like your name, initials, birthdate, star sign, or anything that could help signify what you look like. Basically, whoever came up with this bullshit didn't really want to get soulmates together. So, Michael may have had glasses, but that didn't mean he had the little indents by his nose from them. And that's why it takes so long for soulmates to get together. Except for Jeremy and Michael.
Long ago, Michael had discovered who his soulmate was when he was doodling on his skin, and noted that Jeremy had the same marks. He never told him though. He was afraid that Jeremy would think differently of him, and treat him differently if he knew. He was careful to always have on long sleeves, and his face could never have anything on it. If Jeremy wrote anything on his face, Michael would quickly wash it off. Jeremy was always a little disappointed that his soulmate always washed it off so quickly, and he was afraid that on the night that the school performed Newsies, his makeup would get washed off. Luckily, Michael knew that he couldn't wash it off, and instead hid in the bathroom so that no one would see him with foundation seven shades too light. Plus, he didn't want anyone to see him in the same makeup the actor for Crutchie was wearing and put the pieces together. Days where plays were being performed were the closest calls he had ever had.
After a slip up, the rest of Michael's friends discovered who Jeremy's soulmate was. They told him he should probably tell him, and that everything would be fine, but he refused to. And after a game of truth or dare, Jeremy discovered that they knew who his soulmate was, and that they were in their friend group. Jeremy at first thought it was Christine, but Christine explained that the fact that he hadn't ever had any makeup on his face during her shows, and they always had different makeup jobs was proof enough that it wasn't her. He tried getting the information he needed, but no one would budge, not even his best friend.
A few weeks later, Jeremy decided that he was going to do something that he didn't do unless totally necessary. Write on his face. It was the best way to tell that it was them. But he had to be sneaky about it. One day, while the SQUAD was waiting for the bell to ring, Jeremy exclaimed he needed to go to the bathroom. He slipped behind a corner, and took a pen out of his pocket. He quickly drew a simple heart on his cheek, and looked around the corner, watching for the heart to appear on someone else's cheek. He saw Michael's back straighten and his left hand fly up to cover his cheek, and his breathing hitched. Michael said something quickly and ran away to the other bathroom. Jeremy rounded the corner, he couldn't even hide the look of shock on his face. Rich's eyes widened.
"Well, thit." Jeremy felt the heart on his cheek disappear, and he knew he had washed it off. Michael came back around from the bathroom a few seconds later, and his expression turned to one of fear when he saw Jeremy. (Well, shit)
"H-hey Jeremy..." Jeremy's lips tugged up into a smile.
"Hey Michael." The knowing smirk on Jeremy's face told Michael everything he needed to know.
"Y-you're not d-disappointed?" Jeremy shook his head, and walked over to Michael in one long stride. He lightly grabbed the shorter boy's chin, and turned his face up at him.
"Why would I be disappointed?"
"Well because I'm a weirdo, and a lose-" Michael was cut off by Jeremy placing a soft kiss to his lips. Michael could've sworn he felt the stars crashing around them, but he didn't care. He had dreamed about this for years.
After a few perfect moments, Jeremy pulled away, and stared into Michael's eyes lovingly.
"I love you, Michael. I love you so, so much, I want you to know that." Jeremy engulfed him in a hug, and Michael buried his face in the crook of his neck, mumbling a small, 'I love you too'. After a moment though...
"OH MY GOD! Finally!" Chloe shouted. That's when Michael and Jeremy remembered they were around other people. They pulled away, blushing messes.
"Way to ruin the moment, Chloe!" Rich shouted.
There you go, soulmate AU.
