Hey guys! I finally wrote a thing, so I guess enjoy. It's not beta-read, but I don't really care that much.

"Get out of my way, loser." The words fell like poison from Jeremy's lips. Michael felt himself crumbling at the piercing phrase. Sure, Jeremy had called him that before, but never seriously. However, Michael knew that the Squip wasn't on, so Jeremy didn't have the strength to push past him. He held firm.

"No." Jeremy's glare intensified, and he opened his mouth to speak again. This time, however, Michael pushed forward before he could. "I've been with you for so many years, Jeremy! I've been by your side for longer than anyone you know." Michael was tearing up. Jeremy's expression didn't waver.

"After all those years, all those times when I stood by you no matter what, you don't trust me?" Michael felt like he was breaking, but he tried his best to muster up some of the fire he had only minutes before. "I mean, you leave me for Christine, and yet you haven't even got her yet. You never even talked to her before this." Jeremy scoffed, but his expression was softening.

"Do I just not matter anymore? All I've seen is you spending time with Rich, Brooke, Chloe." Michael felt drained. He didn't know how long he could keep this up, but he hoped that it was long enough to convince Jeremy. "Do I need to remind you that all of them had bullied you, bullied us, for years? I've been with you every step." Michael knew he was out. He couldn't do it anymore. He just prayed to whatever God was out there that he had gotten through to Jeremy. "I thought this was a two-player game."

Jeremy stared at him for a few seconds, and then rolled his eyes. "Please," He started, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "You sound so desperate. My life doesn't revolve around you Michael. I don't need you. You just need to get over it already." Jeremy made to push past him, and Michael made a split-second decision.

He surged forward, and caught Jeremy's lips with his own. Their teeth clacked, but Michael managed to keep them together with a firm hand to the back of Jeremy's neck. He stayed there for a second longer, before pulling away. If this was really the last time he would get to talk to his best friend, then he thought he should get everything out.

However, when he opened his eyes, he didn't see the disgust he expected on Jeremy's face. His eyebrows were pulled taut, and his mouth was slightly agape, but his eyes were soft.

"Why...why did you do that?" Jeremy whispered into the air between them, but there was no accusation behind it. Michael realized that his hand was still on his neck, but he didn't pull away. Instead, he began playing with the short curls at the nape.

"I love you," Michael responded immediately. "I've always loved you. But I want you to be happy. And if this is what you want, then..." He took a shaky breath and closed his eyes. "I'll let you go.

There was a breath, two, and then, "No." Michael's eyes fluttered open.

"What?"

"No, that's not what's going to make me happy." Jeremy looked up at him, and spoke with confidence. "I've always been happier by your side than with the Squip. I was stupid to not see that." Jeremy snaked his arms around Michael's waist. "I thought that it would take some time before I finally got my happy ending, but now I see it was right in front of me all along." Michael thought he might start crying again, but for different reasons this time.

"Do you know how to turn it off?" Jeremy asked after a beat. Michael gave a short nod, and then, reluctantly, pulled away. He walked over to the tub and grabbed out his backpack, pulling out the bottle before turning back around and placing it in Jeremy's hands. He read the label, and then looked skeptically at him.

"Mountain Dew Red?" He asked, uncapping the bottle all the same.

"Yeah. The idea is that green Mountain Dew activates it,"

"And red shuts it off." Jeremy was nodding, before something seemed to dawn on him. "That was why Rich was yelling for this stuff. He's trying to get his Squip out." Michael considered this.

"I guess we're going to have to deal with that before he does something drastic, but first, drink." Jeremy brought the bottle closer to his lips, but looked uncertainly at Michael before he took a drink.

"This is probably going to hurt," Jeremy warned. "If I start screaming, don't worry." Michael considered telling him that there was not a single situation he could think of where Jeremy was screaming in pain, and he wasn't worried. But, he never got the chance, because Jeremy tipped his head back and took a swig. There was a second, and then...

Jeremy led out a high scream, and fell to his knees. The bottle fell out of his grasp, but Michael couldn't be bothered with it. He dropped down as well, and pulled Jeremy into his chest. Michael played with his hair, until the screaming stopped, and he felt Jeremy go limp in his arms.

Michael set Jeremy down in his lap, and pulled out his phone, dialing 911. He held Jeremy close until he heard sirens coming. He slung his backpack over his shoulder, and picked him up (god, he was light). He ran out of the bathroom, noting that the house was curiously empty, and dashed outside, to the ambulance.

He found a bunch of people swarmed around it, but he pushed past them, carefully cradling Jeremy's head. Once he got to the middle, he found Jake helping to lift an unconscious Rich onto a stretcher. So that was why everyone was outside. He didn't care at the moment.

"Excuse me!" He called over the commotion. The medical workers and Jake turned towards him. "My friend needs to go on there too." The workers got out another stretcher, and gently lowered Jeremy onto it as Jake looked him up and down.

"You're that antisocial headphones kid," He said at last. "I don't think I invited you."

"You didn't." Michael pushed past him and lifted himself onto the platform when he was given the go ahead, baring his teeth at Jake. "But I had more important things to think about than whether I was invited or not." He pulled himself into a seat, grabbed Jeremy's hand, and got out his phone, calling Mr. Heere's number that he had for emergencies. Jake sat down next to him, and watched as he told him to get to the hospital ASAP. He set down the phone and glanced over.

"What?" Michael asked. Jake just shook his head.

"Just, what are the odds that both of them passed out around the same time?" He asked.

"Well, about that," Michael interjected. He began explaining the Squips, all the while holding onto Jeremy's hand, knowing it would be okay.

What did you guys think? Comment down bellow. I'm probably not gonna publish again for another few months, because it's really hard to write, but be safe until then, and drink some water. -Poppyseed
