The film was filmed in Scotland, and all the castles scenes in the film were filmed in different parts of the same castle, castle Doon, there was only one other castle in the film which wasn't Doon, this was the castle used to film the castle arrrrrggg.
The team only used two Scottish Castles because the Scottish national trust said that weren't aloud to uses there castles as it my damage the historical building the only reason they could use the two castles in the film was because they were privately owned.
The python's say that working Scotland was not a pleasant experience this was due to the almost constant rain. The python's often said you could tell what time of day it was by how high the damp was on your legs Another problem was the heavy knight costumes which when wet became twice as heavy.
However the when the film was released it became a huge success in many countries which was surprising to some of the crew as the film was made on a budget of around £250,000, eventually this film led to the third python film, which came when the pythons were in Amsterdam promoting the holy grail and a news reporter ask
"so what's you next movie" to which Eric Idle replied
"jesus Christ lusts for glory".
