He stomped through the grass wearing a black hoodie with the strings tightened so tightly around his face, that all she could see were his piercing red eyes. His entire demeanor screamed to her that he would rather be anywhere else than approaching her.
She quickly turned to the side to wipe her eyes again making sure she looked presentable, or at least as presentable as she could be in her current state. She didn't even want to think about what he thought of her right now.
His approaching footsteps crunched the grass in front of her until his shoes appeared in her downward gaze. She tilted her head up, her eyes tracing his silhouette passed his loose sweats, hunched shoulders, and prominent scowl as he pulled his hood off his head. "Hi, Katsuki," she greeted him with the steadiest voice she could, hoping to save some of her own dignity.
Katsuki stared at her with a questioning glare scrutinizing her. "Fuck happened to you?" he raised his eyebrow and nudged his face to gesture at her tattered uniform.
"Nothing happened," she muttered out her lie, "I was just bored...you know how it is at home," she looked back to the side, unable to face him head-on with embarrassment. She knew he didn't believe her as she caught him eyeing her from her peripheral.
Always so observant.
"You look like shit," she opened her mouth to dispute him, to say anything to change the course of the conversation, but he continued. "Your eyes are red."
"Allergies," she really wished Katwsuki would let this go. The wooden bench creaked as his weight fell on it to sit beside her.
He scoffed at her lame excuse. "And your uniform? Don't tell me that's from your shitty allergies too?" His eyes returned to the burned uniform she wore. She instinctively tried to cover herself with her arms, curling herself in to hide the evidence of her fight with Shoto. Her efforts were pointless as her whole jacket was covered in holes singed with dark outlines from her fire.
A burning sensation grew in her throat that made her feel like she would break down into tears at any moment, "I was training," she exhaled a shuddering breath, knowing that he wouldn't buy that either.
Katsuki clicked his tongue in annoyance at her feigned ignorance, quickly growing tired of their back and forth. "Stop fucking lying. Ya made me come all this way just for these dumbass excuses?" he rolled his eyes, leaning back into the backrest of the bench, with an exhale as he looked the other way at a couple of kids playing around in the park.
