CHAPTER 1 : From Then Until Now
Many years have passed and the Demon Slayer Corp were still far away from officially announcing that they have won the war between humans and man-eating demons. Years of chaos, death, and devastation that the enemies have caused, still, they have only ever scratched the surface for a solution to their main problem.
They were all dissapointed in themselves, dissapointed that they still haven't put a stop to all the havoc that the enemies are causing. But they did not loose hope. They kept trying and fighting even if the situation is discouraging. It was their job to fight, they swore to fight. There were no room for giving up or backing down, so the warriors of the Corp kept picking themselves up to fight.
That's what they were trained to do.
The other thing is that the medicine to turn demons back to humans was still under development and it was taking a large amount of time than expected. Tamayo-san was still unsure if it would work, testing the medicine that she was still unsure of, would be fatal. She theorized that it might mutate the demon into something more invincible if the medicine went wrong. She had to run some more research and make sure that it works, everybody believed that she will one day develop a cure.
Over the course of three years, most of the current Hashira decided to pass down their positions to successors and retire.
Kocho Shinobu, the Insect Hashira, passed down her position to her sister's pupil, Tsuyuri Kanao. She received a proposal from the Water Hashira, Tomioka Giyuu, after being in a relationship with him for over a year. She accepted, of course, and everyone that knew the two personally can finally breathe easily with the years of tension between the two.
Giyuu, after finding out he was going to be a father, passed down his position as the Water Hashira to Kamado Tanjirou, because he knew that it would be a good idea to retire from his former position and live a normal life with Shinobu. She wasn't opposed to idea of her husband remaining a member of the Corp, but she was relieved that he decided it was time to rest.
Shinazugawa Sanemi wanted to be a trainor for aspiring Demon Slayer swordsmen, so he stepped down and gave his position as Wind Hashira, to his younger brother, Shinazugawa Genya.
Same goes for Rengoku Kyojuro. He left because he wanted to be a trainor and planned to pass down his mantel to his little brother when he is of age.
Iguro Obanai and Kanroji Mitsuri left their position as Love and Serpent Hashiras to start a life together in a small town somewhere in Japan. The empty positions were given to Agutsama Zenitsu and Hashibira Inosuke.
Only Tokito Muichiro the Mist Hashira, Uzui Tengen the Sound Hashira, and Himejima Gyomei the Stone Hashira, remained in the Corp.
It had only been a few months when Tanjiro was given the spot as the new Water Hashira. His new position meant more responsibility. It was more stressful than he thought it was. He was sent to more and more difficult missions than before; it was getting harder and harder to keep up.
Giyuu was right with his predictions that Tanjirou will do a great job before he passed the position on to the teenager, but Tanjirou was dying for maybe even a few hours of relaxation, maybe actually sleep for eight hours like he normally should instead of two or five hours. Thus, yesterday he tested his luck and finally requested for a day off. He still couldn't believe that it was granted, knowing very well that the people of his chosen line of work don't usually get a rest day, let alone Hashiras. But was he complaining? Absolutely not.
The young Swordsman wondered around the halls of the Butterfly estate, looking for a certain room Kanzaki Aoi was too busy to clearly instruct him where it was exactly. He was getting worried that he'll never find it in time and end up getting nothing productive done that day.
