The hum of the city scape filled your ears as you travelled the lonely train to your destination. The sky dark, and the lights on the train dim. You were exhausted to say the least. You had just come back from a skating competition in Korea, which, you placed first in. The train jerked to a stop and you looked up, noticing it was your stop. You stepped off and headed towards the station exit and stopping to grab a drink on your way. The cold air bit at your skin, causing you to shiver at the touch.
You stopped at a vending machine and drew out a couple of loose coins from your pocket. The wind still nipping at your bare arms. You slotted the coins in the machine then tapped the drink you wanted. You waited for the drink to drop to the bottom, before reaching down and pulling it out. You opened the drink and took a mouthful, shivering at the cold drink going down your throat. You headed for the station exit and left. You looked for a taxi rank but couldn't see one. You had to walk home in the cold.
"Here." A voice called out. You turned to the person and saw someone who was taller than you offering you a red volleyball coat.
"Are you sure?" You ask, softly.
"Yeah. You look like you need it." The voice says.
"Thank you." You reply.
"So, where ya headed? I'll walk you home. I saw you looking for a taxi." The person said.
"Oh, just my house. And thank you for the offer. I'll gladly accept." You said, curtsying. "I didn't catch your name." You said, standing up.
"Oh, I'm Tetsurou Kuroo." The person says.
"I'm F/N." You reply.
You put on Tetsurou's jacket and let him walk you home in the cold night. You walked with him, pointing out which direction to go in as you did so. After a while, you began to get tired, so Tetsurou offered to carry you and your suitcase but you refused. He decided to carry just your suitcase as you continued the walk to your house in silence. Tetsurou wanted to get to know you a bit, so started a conversation to ease the awkward silence.
"How come you were on the train by yourself so late?" Tetsurou asked.
"Well, I came from the airport. I had a late flight." You replied.
"Oh? Where did you fly in from?" He asks.
"South Korea. Oh, Tetsurou turn left here." You reply.
"You don't have to be so formal. And I noticed you have a slight accent. Did you stay somewhere abroad for a couple years?" He asks.
"Why yes. Wanna guess where and how long?" You ask, eagerly.
"Umm... Was it China? For... 5 years?" He questions.
"No, not China. But I did stay in that country for 5 years. I thought I'd be used to the cold by now. I got used to the cold where I was, but as soon as I stepped off the train, I regretted not having a hoodie or coat to wear." You say, giving him a slight hint while conversing at the same time.
"Oh so the country was cold. Erm... The United Kingdom?" He questions.
"Net." You reply.
"Is that... Russian? You were in Russia?" He asks.
"Yes. The weather is so cold there. I'm surprised it affects me here." You reply.
"Well, this is my house. Thank you for walking me home Tetsurou. I guess I'll see you at school tomorrow." You reply as his mouth was agape at the sight of your house.
"You live here?!" He pauses in shock. "Wait, what do you mean see me at school tomorrow?" He finishes.
"Well, you go to Nekoma, right? I'll be attending Nekoma as of tomorrow." You reply.
"Ah, I see. Ok, well good night F/N." He says.
"Good night. Do svidaniya." You say, waving at Tetsurou as you walk up to your front door.
"Wait, what does that mean?" He asks, confused.
"Oh... it's Russian for goodbye." You reply.
"Ah ok... Sayonara." He says, walking away from your grand house.
You unlocked your front door and walked inside, taking in the warmth that hit you. You dragged your suitcase up your grand staircase and headed for your room. You opened your door and placed your suitcase to the side, throwing yourself onto your double bed. You took in the smell of fresh linen and relaxed on your bed. You pulled your phone out of your bag and looked at the time. It was 9:45pm. You wanted to just sleep but realised you hadn't eaten since you left Korea.
You sighed before getting up from your bed. You went downstairs and headed for your kitchen. You opened the fridge and made a sandwich before sitting down and eating it. Once consumed, you washed your dishes and headed for your bathroom. You took a long shower before going to your room and settling under the warm duvet, falling asleep as soon as your head touches the pillows.
