Chapter 13
The Breaux Bridge Hotel
While standing in the lobby Jessie said in a quiet voice, "Frank. I meant to say back at the house, that I think we need to say a prayer for God's help in this situation we find ourselves in." "I think that's a very good idea Jessie," the sheriff agreed. "How about we get out of the isle way though," he said, leading the group to a quiet alcove to the left of the door.
"Okay Jessie, go ahead." Everyone bowed their heads as Jessie prayed for she and the others protection and that the men responsible for Randal's death would be brought to justice so they couldn't hurt anyone else. She ended with, "And Lord I know you love everyone so I pray that the people who did this terrible thing would find you Jesus as their Lord and be saved and let you change their lives for the better. Amen." And everyone echoed Amen.
" Okay then," the sheriff said, "let me show you your rooms," The sheriff checked them all in, and the men in the group, Clark, Mike and Frank helped carry Jessie, Essie, and Grace's luggage up the steps along side the burnished Oak banister to their rooms. Jessie, Grace and Essie were in a three bedroom suite. "Oh my goodness!" Grace breathed when she walked in the door, "I never expected this!"
"It is nice," Jessie approved. "I'll say it is!" Essie squealed, grabbing a candy bar from the mini bar. "This should give you ladies enough room," Frank said with a chuckle. The room was decorated in colors of gold and light blue. Two sofas sat in the living area patterned with light blue and gold flowers. An Oak coffee table sat in between them.
A entertainment center sat against the wall apposite the sofas. It contained a flat screen T.V. a D.V.D. player and a dozen or so D.V.D.s. A large silk plant sat a top of it. The carpet and drapes in the room were a light blue which matched the shade in the sofas. The bedrooms contained a queen size bed an Oak end table, a dresser and a comfortable reading chair in the same floral print and colors as the sofas in the living room.
Ron had entered the room along side Grace and now said, "This is nice." Grace gave him a smile. "Okay," the sheriff said," drop your bags in which ever bedroom you choose and then come with me, and after I've showed the others their rooms I will show you the common room on this floor, the laundry room and where the drinks and snacks machines can be found." So the ladies did as Frank told them and then they and Ron followed the sheriff out the door.
The others had been talking in the hallway waiting for the sheriff, Jessie, Esther, Grace and Ron. Sheriff Matthews showed the others where their rooms were located. Grant heard the shuffling of feet in the corridor and he and his body guard J. L. Tubbs, a hefty man about fifty years old with graying dark brown hair and green eyes appeared in Grant's doorway.
The hair stylist Bunny, had died Grant's light brown hair a golden blond and gave him chocolate brown contacts for his blue eyes. Deputy Cruise had bought him a pair of western boots to give him the height of around five foot eleven inches, which he was not wearing now. So he stood at his normal five feet seven inches.
Before the sheriff showed his new guests the common room, the laundry room and the drink and snack machines, he introduced Grant to everyone. While Frank had a conversation with the body guard J. L. Ron struck up a conversation with Grant. The sheriff was through in a matter of minutes and said, "Ron, Grant, you two will have plenty of time to talk. Come on, let me take you all on a tour." The two men chuckled as the sheriff started to move down the hallway.
