Cassidy was a ball of anxiety by the time the car was parked. This was a bad idea, a very stupid idea, and she lamented over her quick agreement to come. They got out of the car and Cassidy could feel her hands start to tremble with nerves. She jolted when she felt an elbow on her shoulder, and she turned to see Holden leaning on her. He nodded towards her shaking hands, "You need to relax, Cassidy."
Cassidy huffed in aggravation and shoved him away, "Get off, Holden. You know I hate when you do that." He chuckled and allowed her to push him back. He shrugged, "I bet you're not so nervous now, are you? You should thank me for taking some of the edge off."
Cassidy wanted to snap at him but she realized he was right; she felt far less nervous than before. If he thought she would thank him, however, for being a cocky asshole then he was completely wrong. "Hey!" Cassidy started and both she and Holden turned to see Axle shifting impatiently five yards away. "Are you guys coming or what?"
When did he get over there? Cassidy wondered. She and Holden began walking towards Axle and Cassidy felt the anxiety creeping up again. She ran her hands through her hair nervously and felt Holden's hand close around her wrist. She looked at him in question and he nodded towards the bouncer. They passed by him as if he didn't see them at all. Right. She was a sixteen year-old girl and not allowed in nightclubs, so they had to sneak in. Invisibility. Cassidy hadn't quite mastered that trick yet, only able to turn slightly translucent before it stopped. As soon as they were into the club, Holden dropped her arm and led them to a table in the corner.
Cassidy followed behind them nervously and stopped a little ways away as five people eagerly moved from their seats and approached them. As happy greetings were exchanged throughout the group, Cassidy's eyes shifted to one girl in particular. She, other than Holden, had the least tattoos out of everyone and she was staring intensely at Cassidy. Cassidy averted her gaze and waited for them to introduce her. "Hey, Babe."
Cassidy watched as the girl she was staring at sashayed up to Holden and pulled him down for a kiss. Cassidy's eyes widened and she felt her heart clench suspiciously in her chest. "Ugh. Seradaphina, stop before I gag," another girl complained. Seradaphina. Cassidy remembered Axle mentioning her at the house with a playful leer on his face. Seradaphina pulled away from Holden. Their eyes briefly met and Cassidy saw a gleam in her gaze before she turned to face the other girl. "Oh Ella, gagging wouldn't change a thing. So. Who's this?"
"Good question," a boy said with a smirk. "Better question: is she single?" Cassidy blushed as Axle rolled his eyes. "Sorry, James. Cassidy doesn't like assholes." Sneaking a glance at Holden, Cassidy nodded emphatically. That's for sure. Cassidy extended her hand to him, "Hi, I'm Cassidy."
In a swift movement, Seradaphina snatched Cassidy's hand and pulled up her sleeve. Cassidy yelped in surprise and tugged her hand from the Dragon-Breather's firm grip. "She's a Faery!" Seradaphina snarled, staring at Cassidy in disgust. Hatred dripped from every word out of the girl's mouth, and Cassidy knew she was the one Axle was warning about at the house.
Cassidy glared at her and roughly tugged her sleeve back down. "Yes," She drawled slowly. "I'm a Faery and you're a Dragon-Breather. This is a chair and that is a table."
James laughed, "I like her. Huh. I've never seen golden streaks on a Faery before."
"Neither have I," another girl said. She squinted at Cassidy and clicked her tongue. "You know, I feel like I've seen you from somewhere."
Holden rolled his eyes. "Guys, relax. She's cool." He put his elbow on her shoulder again and leaned against her. She felt Axle do the same on her other shoulder. Having enough, she pinched the underside of their arms. "Do that again and I will murder you," she threatened.
