Panic rose from the back of my throat, and I swallowed hard. "Well, we always can't have the things we want, can't we?" What am I going to do? Surely there's a way so the others don't get in trouble or hurt...

"Cute, young love." Kisame chuckled darkly as he dug the kunai into my neck, I could feel blood trailing down my neck. "What're we going to do to her, Itachi? Take her with us for Leader-sama?"

Itachi glanced back behind him, observing the audience. His lips turned up into a small smirk. "No, I don't think that would be easy with them surrounding us. She's obviously a precious brat." His eyes turned back to me, and something crushed my heart, his eyes were so similar to Sasuke's. Three years changed so many things, and that crush of familiarity made it so hard to breathe. "But we can persuade your friends into doing what our leader wants."

A plan bloomed in my head like a flower. Fire. "Clever thinking, Itachi." Kisame sounded merely impressed, and for a short moment his grip on me loosened. I almost thought about dropping my plan, but then I decided better. I channeled all my chakra down to my abdomen, I was going to attempt to convert my chakra into fire. "Which one is it would Leader-sama would want though?"

"Access to Konoha." Itachi replied. "Once we have that, we could give the girl to Sasori so he could make her into one of his puppets."

My stomach churned. "I have ears, you know."

"I'll make sure to tell Sasori to cut off her ears first, and then her tongue." Kisame grumbled. Suddenly, Itachi spun on his heel and I heard a familiar yell in pain. The person fell onto his knees, and Itachi swiftly moved and I saw who it was. It was Uzumaki Naruto of all people.

Naruto was panting, his hand clutching at his chest. "Wh-What's the big i-idea-ttebayo?! Let her go!"

"NARUTO!" My eyes flashed up and met with Haruno Sakura. My eyes watered as hers widened with recognition. "Amaya?"

"Naruto, you idiot! I told you to stay back!" Shikamaru growled.

Sakura turned on him, "Do something!"

"I can't! It'll end up hurting the both of them if I do something!" Shikamaru argued, Mitsuki looked uncomfortable between them, however there was something about his expression that looked incredibly different. "The least we can do is stand back and reason with them."

Itachi grabbed Naruto's hair and pulled him up to his feet, Naruto yelled out in pain and glared into Itachi's eyes. "Let her go."

Itachi replied in a nonchalant tone, "No. Not without a compromise."

"What kind of compromise?" The pain washed away Naruto's face.

"Naruto, don't trust him! Don't forget what Sasuke told us about him." Sakura shouted, her hands curled into fists at her sides. "He's a traitor!"

I stared at Naruto, he was a lot different than he was. He was more mature, and surely he seemed to have lost all the obnoxiousness. His eyes flickered to mine, and he gave me a reassuring smile. Then his gaze turned back to Itachi. "What compromise?" he repeated.

"You---or someone---speak to Tsunade about letting the Akatsuki have access to Konoha whenever our leader pleases." Itachi responded, he let go of Naruto's hair. "If not, then we'll hurt her."

Naruto didn't look alarmed, but he stepped back from Itachi. "What if I don't believe you, dattebayo? You could be lying to me right now and hurt her."

I was prepared, I channeled enough chakra to convert into fire and hurt Kisame. I shifted the slightest bit, and under his breath, Kisame snarled, "I am not afraid to decapitate a pretty girl like you with Samehada. Stop moving."
