The morning temperature was fair but sent a cool breeze caressing my body that made me shift closer to Asra.

He and I walked through the bustling marketplace on our way to the palace.

I took his hand and intertwined his fingers with mine.

He noticed my chills and snuggled up closer to me, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze.

"Umbra! Asra! Great to see you again, would you like some bread?" The baker shouted from across the marketplace.

Asra pulled me along as we rushed over and into the baker's shop for a quick bite.

We sat down at a table as he set two cups of ginger licorice tea and banana bread on the table for us.

"You guys look exhausted, have these." The baker said.

The familiar sweet aroma of the bread gave a pleasant scent that lightened my rather worried mood.

We thanked him, gave him a shiny gold coin, and then looked at each other.

We picked apart the bread into smaller pieces and began a conversation.

"So, Countess' headaches?" I asked, placing the piece of bread in my mouth.

"Yeah and I think I know why they are occurring like how they are." Asra said, placing the cup of tea to his lips.

I raised my eyebrows. "Continue,"

"So three years ago the count died, yes?"

"Mhmm."

"Well he's coming back but as a apparition."

"Of...?"

"A goat."

I nearly spat out my tea.

"A goat? You're kidding." I laughed.

He looked nervous at first but then began to giggle with me.

"Yeah, well, I've seen him and he's haunting the palace. Plus, he could possibly bring back the plague and we need to try to put an end to it." He said, taking a sip of his tea. "An end to him."

I was surprised at the darkness in Asra's eyes as he said that.

It sort of turned me on.

"And I think the headaches are kinda like yours. It comes back when she sees or remembers him."

"She forgot him?" I asked. "Her ex-husband?"

He nodded. "She lost something like you, Sol. She forgot Lucio completely. The doctors told her it was from how traumatic the event was though we both know that's not true."

I hummed, looking into my cup.

"At the palace, did you see Lucio's apparition by chance?"

I thought for a moment, recalling his dusky wing and the things I caught out of the corner of my eye.

I realized I had never mentioned to Asra about his voice that I could hear whispering to me and the goat-like ghost that was too intimidated to materialize fully before me.

"I have. I've heard him too." I said, lowly.

His eyes widened. "Did he touch you?"

I shook my head. "I don't think that's possible for him."

He sighed with relief. "Good, he's still weak. But not weak enough."

"Weak enough'? He's a ghost."

Asra set the cup of tea down and looked into my eyes.
