It was like any other day, rainy and without much activities. Hannah, waking up to this same depressed life took up her phone and surfed the internet. As she was about to proceed with her daily Netflix routine, she heard voices coming from the living room. She dropped her phone and walked downstairs and as she got closer, the voices became clearer. Hannah standing in the background heard her dad, while he was sitted next to her mum with a white envelope in his hands say,"We will get through this, this is just one of those setbacks"
Judging by the look on his face, Hannah knew she was about to receive a very sad news. She held on for few seconds, while taking a deep breath before she approached her dad with a smile that was rather fake, she asked,
"Dad, what's going on?, Has my admission letter arrived?"
Hannah had just wrote an examination for Havard College, and because she was short-listed (which was painful, judging from the fact that hannah wasn't a tall person). so Hannah spent the rest of her days anxiously waiting for her admission letter. However, it wasn't what she expected. Her dad had just been fired, and because he couldn't let his daughter down, he said in a low-pitched voice,
"just a minor problem at work, but it's alright. why are you up so early?"
"I thought something was wrong, cause I heard you and mum talking and it was so early so I had to see what was going on",
hannah replied. As she was about to ask about the problem at work, her mum interrupted with the very statement hannah didn't want to hear during her anxious phase.
"hannah, why don't you think it's a good idea to apply to a community college, Kelly also applied there and it would be pretty fun if you both were together, I mean you both would have girls night out and go to prom together and you know.."
"Community college?", hannah asked with a big smile on her face
"I'm just suggesting because Havard is pretty difficult and it wouldn't be a bad idea to explore your options, there a great people there you know", Hannah's mum replied
"Community people mum, literally the whole community goes there", Hannah said as she walked to the kitchen to grab a jar of Nutella.
Leaving behind the conversation she was about to have with her father, hannah grabbed her Nutella and went straight to her room to Netflix and chill - alone!. More like "Netflix and Nutella". At least her mum realized one of her goals which was to divert her attention from the discussion she just bumped into.
Weeks went by, and hannah noticed some recent changes in the behaviour of her parents. She didn't care much because she always followed her favourite quote in all aspects of her life: "people change".
it was summer, and hannah still waiting for her admission letter began to be more impatient. It was the 1st of August, and hannah got a visit from her friend, kelly, (more like community friend).
"the girl who got away", Kelly said as she gave hannah a bear hug
