"c'mon, (y/n)!!", your bestfriend, Elizabeth, whines, pulling your arm. you roll your eyes, annoyed by your friend's stubborness. "i cannot stand you. i already told you no, didn't i?".

Elizabeth has been forcing you to go with her to a certain concert. she didn't specify which artist or group she wants to see, and you have no plans on knowing who, since you had little interest in music. so attending music concerts seemed too much of a bore, and a waste of time and money for you.

"oh, darling i know you'll love this concert. no one could resist this group, not even you", she giggles like a girl who just thought about her crush, and you let out a defeated sigh, not wanting to ruin your bestfriend's happy mood. "this better be worth it, Elizabeth. if this is a waste of my time, i'll kill you in your sleep".

"oh trust me, it's so worth it".

~

"when is this concert gonna start?". you say as you let out a groan. your bestfriend took you to the venue an hour before the concert starts. you're only 20 minutes in, sitting on your designated place, but the boredom is striking you real hard.

"c'mon now, don't be so impatient", your bestfriend says, and you just roll your eyes, clearly annoyed with what she did. "i'll go to the restroom". before she could reply, you got up from your seat, making your way to the restroom with a frown on your face. you started questioning yourself whether giving in to your bestfriend's wish was worthy of your time.

after doing your business in the restroom, you got out of the cubicle and proceeded to the sink to wash your hands. subconsciously, you started singing one of the songs that you knew, one key lower than the original. you didn't know the title, however, you memorized the lyrics, since your bestfriend would always play it. the song somehow stuck to you.

"you and i must make a pact
we must bring salvation back
where there is love
i'll be there".

after wiping your hands with a paper towel, you proceeded to sing the next lyrics, making your way out of the restroom.

"i'll reach out my hand to you
i'll have faith in all you do
just call my name, i'll be there".

just as you opened the door, you heard a small gasp, and you arch your brow. closing the door, you found a boy—who seemed to be around your age—standing right next to the door. you made eye contact, his chocolate brown eyes boring into yours. usually you would get mad at people eavesdropping to you, but this boy, oh, you couldn't get mad. not when his doe eyes somehow glimmered with delight. you began studying every inch of his features, and oh boy, this boy is cute as hell. you thought to yourself.

"uhm, hey", he starts, and you snap out of your trance. "oh, uh— what is it?". you asked.

"i jus' wanna know if...", he fiddled with his fingers nervously, rocking on the balls of his feet. "if that was you singing earlier?".

christ, someone heard me sing! again, you thought to yourself.

you felt blood rush up to your cheeks, and you struggled to make eye contact with him. "y-yes that was me".

the boy then plastered a sweet smile upon his lips. his smile radiated so much more light than the sun would, your heart fluttered at the sight. "your voice is very beautiful".

"thank you, that means a lot", you say, this time it was your turn to smile. you failed to notice the blush on the boy's cheeks. "so, what are you here for?", he asks. "oh uhm, i'm here to watch a concert with my friend".

your conversation went on. the boy's name was Michael, a very common name, you thought. but it suits him—an angel's name perfectly matched with an angelic face. you talked about your dreams, then made jokes—with both of you sitting in front of the restroom, both your laughters filling the hall.

"Mike, i have a question", he hums in response, looking at you. "do you know the title of the song i was singing earlier?". you asked. since he mentioned he loved music, you thought he must have an idea what the song you were singing earlier is. he smiles cheekily, before replying. "it's called, i'll be there". you nod in response, humming along as you did. "do you know whose song is it?".

"well, actually—".

"Michael! we gotta go!", called a voice from the other end of the hallway. he turns to look at the direction where the voice came from. "alright!". he sighs out of disappointment, before turning around to look at you. "i guess i'll see you later? where are you seated?".

"at the front row, right at the center", you reply, wondering why he asked. "why?".

he smiles ever so widely, his eyes turning into crescent moons. "oh yes, i'll definitely see you later". he got up first, holding out a hand to help you get up, and you accept it gladly. you blushed at how soft his hand felt in yours. "hey, you didn't answer—", before you could finish, he presses a soft kiss on your cheek. "i gotta go now", he says with that charming smile of his, before running to the opposite direction, leaving you dumbfounded, with your heart beating fast.

"where the hell have you been? i thought you ditched me!", Elizabeth whines silently, and you only let out a chuckle. "relax. i met a new friend there and we kinda had a little chitchat".

"a little?", your bestfriend scoffs. "i had to wait for 30 minutes, and you say a little? who the heck was that anyway?".

"his name is Michael".

she went silent for a while, before she emits a gasp, "Michael Ja—?".

before she could finish, voices were heard from the stage. the lights onstage finally opened, revealing five boys, one of them looking oddly familiar to you. after looking closely, it struck you.

it's Michael. onstage.

he's a famous music artist.

you couldn't keep your eyes off of Michael as he danced along with the other guys, who seemed to be his brothers. you figured so, since they had a striking resemblance.

each time he roamed on the stage, he made eye contact with you, which your bestfriend never failed to notice, and she smirks to herself, figuring out that the Michael guy you talked to was the Michael Jackson of Jackson 5.

after more songs and way more eye contacts, the concert is finally coming to an end. "before we end this concert", Michael says, and the crowd's attention was all on him. "i'd like to sing one of our songs that wasn't really listed for our performances", Michael smiles to himself, glancing at you for a little while, before darting his eyes back at the crowd. you could only stare at him in awe. "i dedicate this song to a new found friend of mine. she's in the crowd right now".

the crowd "awwed" at Michael's remarks, and you felt your bestfriend nudge your side, smirking like an idiot. you roll your eyes at her, but smile afterwards. a few moments later, a rather familliar tune played.

wait, is that—

your thoughts were interrupted by Michael's sweet angelic voice.

"you and i must make a pact
we must bring salvation back
where there is love
i'll be there".

you realized it was the song you were singing earlier, and you figured that it was Jackson 5's song. as you watched with a smile on your face, Michael made eye contact with you once again.

"i'll reach out my hand to you
i'll have faith in all you do
just call my name, i'll be there".

maybe this wasn't a waste of time, after all.

idk what else to put lmao. i apologize if this chapter is too long.
