"You should have lock your windows." Five stated while crossing his legs.
"I live on the second floor." Vanya said putting back her scarf on the coat rack.
"Rapists can climb." Eight rolled her eyes on him,
"You're so weird." Vanya response as she noticed the bandage on his arm, "What happened?"
"It's nothing."
"Don't worry It's good now." Eight assured Vanya.
Vanya looked at Five, "Why are you here?"
Five fixed his position, "Well I am here to prove you that whatever's Eight trying to say is true. I witnessed it."
Vanya looked at him confused, "The end of the world?" Eight nodded.
"W-why me?" Five cleared his throat, "I've decided that you're the only one we can trust."
"But why me?" Vanya asked again, "Because you're ordinar-" Eight cut him off,
"Because you'll listen." Vanya nodded.
Five sighed as he glanced on Eight, "When I jumped forward and got stuck in the future, do you know what I found?"
"No..."
"Nothing. Absolutely nothing. As far as I could tell, I was the last person alive. I never figured out what killed the human race, but I did find something else." He paused, "The date it happens."
"The world ends in eight days." Eight continued as Five nodded, "And we have no idea how to stop it."
"I'll put on a pot of coffee."
Five and Eight watched Vanya walked into the kitchen, Eight sighed.
"I told you..." She looked at him, "She's overwhelmed." Five stated.
"I can tell."
"I survived on scarps. Canned foods, cockroaches, anything I could find." Five explained as Eight looked down imagining all the horrible stuffs Five had to do to survive.
If only she was there to help.
"You do whatever it takes to survive, or you die. So, we adapted. Whatever the world threw us, we found a way to overcome it." Eight furrowed her eyes,
"We?" She asked.
He ignored her question and turned to Vanya, "Do you have anything stronger?"
Vanya nodded.
Eight looked at him wondering who was he with. She though he was alone till The Handler came into the picture, hence she didn't even come along with him.
Who was it?!
"You think I'm crazy?" Five said as Eight let out a snicker finally seeing someone who she relates with.
Vanya shook her head, "No- its just- it's a lot to take in. I mean Eight used to bring it up to us but... I don't know..."
"Exactly what don't you understand?" Five snapped.
"Why didn't you just travel back?" She asked which Eight wondered.
Five rolled his eyes, "Gee. Wish I'd thought of that." He paused, "Time travel is a crapshoot. I went under the ice and never acorn-ed."
Eight looked at him as Five turned his head to her, "You think I didn't try everything I could to get back to my family?" Eight looked down as her gaze soften.
"If you grew old there, you know, in the apocalypse, then why do you look like a kid?" "I already told you. I must've gotten the equations wrong."
Vanya shrugged, "I mean dad used to say that time travel could mess with you mind. Well, maybe that's what's happening?" Eight sighed from her statements.
"This was a mistake." Five grabbed Eight's wrist then turn to the door. "You're too young. Too naive to understand."
"Five, calm down." Eight whispered as she turned around to Vanya.
"No,no Five, wait!" Vanya pleaded as Eight placed her hand on his shoulder asking him to give her some chance to speak.
"I haven't seen you in a long time, and I don't want to lose you again That's all" Vanya started. "You know what, it's getting late. I have lessons early and I need to sleep, plus Eight you've been stuck in academy for long time maybe you could stay here for quite some time. You and Five should rest."
Eight nodded as she sat on the couch as Vanya handed her some blanket.
"We'll talk again in the morning okay? I promise."
"Good night." Eight said, "Night." Vanya replied before walking towards her bedroom.
"Night." Five mumbled before sitting next to Eight.
He grabbed something from his pocket, Eight's eyes shifting towards it.
"What's that?" She asked. "Something I found in the apocalypse, It's important." He said while examining an eye ball.
"Found it on Luther's hand." He stood up walking towards the door. Eight grabbed his wrist, stopping him.
"I need to solve this Eight, come on."
Eight sighed, "I know it is important and might play a big role on the apocalypse..." She paused, "Can we just stay here for a while? Plus it's late everything's close." Five sighed knowing she's right.
"Fine but first thing in the morning this will be our mission." He sat down again, Eight nodded. "You should rest Five, you're probably tired. We need some energy." She said as she leaned in the couch.Truthfully, Eight just wanted Five to take a rest with her, it has been 16 years since they we're beside each other. She just wants to spend the night with him... She knows it's not the time.
Just in case they failed at least she spent a night with him.
Five watched Eight fall asleep, her head is on the arms of the couch, she sleeps too peacefully. As if nothing is worrying her.
Five caressed her hair, seeing her peaceful makes his heart warm; knowing that Eight is safe makes him on ease.
"I really miss you Eight." He mumbled before leaning against the couch then shut his eyes.
