"We promise, nothing else in the zoo is gonna steal your keys again!" Lay says. He glances at Zaddy once before he continues speaking..
"Side note, we're also really interested in featuring Zaddy's ring during the ceremony. It's very special to us. Because it's got some background history," Lay says with a bright smile.
The two of them share a look that literally melts my heart and soul. And at this point, I honestly can't resist a good story about a wedding ring.
"Can I have a look at the ring, by the way?" I ask politely.
"Of course you can!" Lay responds and immediately pulls out a box from his pocket and opens it, showing the shining ring to me and I can't help but be mesmerized by how gorgeous and stunning the stone is!
Lay nods spontaneously before speaking, "Well, we were on the safari together and ended up digging up the diamond in there. And I almost lost it on the way back because I was distracted by a pride of lions and dropped the ring."
"I just saw him launch himself off the track to grab it. I was one hundred percent sure that he's going to be the lion food!" Zaddy adds in.
"And those lions would've had every right to make me their food. They're extremely accomplished predators and hunters," Lay says, his voice extremely intense and excited.
Zaddy rolls her eyes in what I'm pretty much sure is known as amusement, "Leave it to Lay to be a pro at getting eaten by lions."
"But the most important and fun part is, I didn’t get eaten by any lion in this process. And we managed to get the diamond. Then we turned it into a ring!" Lay squeals.
I gasp, "Woah! That's amazing! And all the more terrifying at the same time. I can totally see why it's so special."
"It's so hard to believe this is the same guy who's scared of pigeons," Zaddy giggles.
"You rescued a diamond from the mouth of a freaking lion but you're scared of pigeons?" I ask in surprise.
"Don't laugh at me, please. Pigeons are very scary and not nice," Lay pouts. Zaddy playfully hits his cheek with a fist and I can't help but stare at them in awe. They're so adorable!
"Well, we can definitely to some arrangements for the ring to have a special spotlight during the ceremony and make sure that everyone hears the story!" I tap my chin, "And, hmm..maybe we can exaggerate the story a little bit to make Lay sound even cooler. Like, saying, he had to fight off a lioness in order to get the diamond."
"Hey! The original story's very cool, okay?" Lay frowns.
Zaddy chuckles, "The lions were like, five hundred feet away, Lay."
"Lions can run up to fifty one miles per hour, just saying," Lay shrugs.
I nod in agreement, "Okay that's very true. Let's just keep everything real and represent the story as it is. Just..without the lions."
"That'd be the most ideal thing to do," Zaddy says.
"It definitely seems like I'm the most cool one out here. You guys are no fun at all! And here I was going to ask about riding on a lion!" Lay says. Are all zoo-keepers like this?
"Anyways, I'm really excited about this wedding. You guys surely win among my clients for the most creative location," I chuckle.
"The zoo's everything to us. We couldn’t just not incorporate it with the most special day of our life!" Zaddy says.
"We even asked our friends to dress up like animals so that it'll be even more in theme. Not that I think that any of them will actually do it, but whatever," Lay shrugs.
"We’re weird and proud of it," Zaddy curls her hands into a fist. I guess this is my life now, dealing with abnormal people.
"Man, planning this wedding just makes me wanna go to the zoo even more often in general," I say.
"You should definitely go to the zoo more often! Just be careful about where you step in," Lay suggests me.
"A lot of zoos out there have serious issues when it comes to animal treatment and welfare," Zaddy sighs.
"This one, though, has top-ranked rehabilitation and conservation programs and 75% of our animals are considered rescue. Not to mention our award-winning education programs encourage the visitors to treat all animals with love, affection and respect, not only here in the zoo but also out there in the wild," Lay adds in.
Am I in the columbus zoo? If not, where am I? Because I'm pretty sure it's not how it feels to be meeting my wedding clients. This dude is straight off educating me and advertising his zoo.
"Umm, well, thank you very much for the..tips and advice. I'll definitely be back here for a visit in future," I say smilingly, not that I actually mean it. But who cares? It's not like they're gonna invite me to a programme right now.
Like listening to the demon in my mind, Zaddy says, "If you're interested, there's a zoo-brew event going on tonight. You could go and get the lay of the land before tomorrow."
Shit. Fuck. Dammit.
"Zoo Brew? What's that?" I ask.
"They open up the zoo after hours and serve food. It's a good time," Lay replies.
Okay, you don’t have to say yes, Niki. You don’t!
"Oh, I'll think about that!" I say so suddenly, it seems kinda awkward. "Now let's talk about your reception.."
I spend a solid few hours there discussing about the details of the wedding.

When I get home later that day, I sit myself down for a well-deserved reality show binge when suddenly there's a knock in my door.
Whoever this is, please go away. Just leave.
