"Well, I made it very clear what am I doing here the minute I stepped inside your house. But he walked in like this is his house. And that's absolutely of my business because how do I know that there wasn't something cooking up between you two the entire time and them firing both of us wasn't just a show?" he frowns.
And...here we go.
"Mind your tongue, Soo-man. I heard everything you just said before I walked in. And it seems like I've made a grave mistake," Nini hisses. Okay, good save. But I hope he's not figuring this out just now.
"And what are you gonna do about it, huh? You’ve already fired me!" Mr. Lee crosses his arms, brows frowning in concentration.
"What am I gonna do about it?" Nini takes a menacing step towards him, "Well, I'm in contact with almost all major event planning company owners, and a great many of the industry's highest profile clients. With a few phone calls, I can easily have you blacklisted from the entire industry."
Mr. Lee gulps, his eyes frightened while he's almost sweating in tension, "You’re..You’re not gonna do that, right? Please, you're not."
Nini smirks, "Now you're pleading, huh?"
"Don’t do that, please. I'll be jobless!" Mr. Lee is almost crying out and this is one of the most satisfying scenarios I've ever witnessed in my whole life. Ah, the charm, the relaxation..
Nini cocks his head sideways, and for some unknown reasons, it's oddly hot.
"I will, if you ever speak to Niki again. Or I hear about you treating any of your other subordinates the way you treated her," he says.
"Alright, alright! I won't speak to her again," Mr. Lee blurts out.
"Thank you, Nini. Mr. Lee..GET OUT OF MY APARTMENT!" I growl, my voice shaking the entire room.
Mr. Lee's eyes filt from me, to nini, to me again. He bolts.
"And stay out," Nini says as Mr. Lee walks out of the door. His serious expression curving into a smile as he sees Mr. Lee run out like a frightened rat.
I smile too, "Well, that just happened."
He turns his head towards me, finally looking me in the eye "That it did."
A feeling of relief comes over me. For the first time in months, I feel like I can breathe. Is it just because Mr. Lee is gone? Or is it because Nini's here?
Damn, I tried to reach out to him so many times. I tried every fucking way possible but this motherfucker avoided me like I don’t exist. Did he not feel guilty, even the slightest to leave me waiting like that?
As soon as he stepped in, my heart started pounding hard against my chest. It's kinda awkward, kinda intolerable, but I love this feeling.
He's still looking at me, smiling lightly like nothing happened, "And, now that the rabble is gone.."
What's he gonna say? Is it about that night?
"Niki, I'd like to offer you my sincerest apologies, on behalf of both myself and all of Concept Events," he bows his head slightly in motion of apology.
"Wow, is this a dream?" I giggle, "Nope, I don't think so actually. It's too good to be a dream."
Nini nods, "It shouldn’t be a dream. It's what you deserve. And what you've deserved from the very beginning."
I smirk, "You know what? You’re right. It's about damn time. Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting for this day to come?"
"Since April when I dismissed you?" he asks.
I shrug, "Okay, yes. But that's not the point. The point is, it's been a long time! I've swore to make you apologize to me!"
"Really? So all this time, you've been doing all that to take revenge on me?" his voice complaining. "And here I thought that you cared about my sister."
"Don't make my career an object between this, okay? Everything I've done so far and doing till now is absolutely generous," I cross my arms.
"But it must feel like heaven to have me begging your pardon, right?" Nini giggles.
"Oh, of course. I wanna celebrate!" I squeal.
He shakes his head laughingly, "It really has been a very long time. And if I could go back in time and apologize sooner, I'd definitely do that. But as I can't time-travel, please let me make it up to you now."
He continues, "I maintain my stance that your outburst to Lee Soo Man was highly unprofessional. But I've come to see that you’ve had your reasons. I went through his digital correspondences. And spoke to the employees about their honest experiences working with him."
Oh! So he read my e-mails, but only the ones to Mr. Lee and not the ones that I've literally been spamming the last few days. Okay.
"He was attempting to gaslight several people, mostly by taking credits of other's works, but also by changing deadlines and lying to others. Somebody really should've seen through all that. I don't know how he managed to keep doing without letting anyone understand the game he was playing," he sighs, "I intended to come here, meet you in person and tell you about all of these. And then I encountered that scene."
Okay, so you only wanted to tell me about Mr. Lee's deeds and not that night? Wow, Nini.
"What can I say? Lucky timing," I say.
"That for sure," Nini replies, then glances at me, "Niki, I can't change the past. But what I can do and will do is offer you his old position."
"Wait a minute, you're offering me to be the senior manager of Concept Events?" I gasp so audibly that it seems dramatic. But..
Oh my god. Oh. My. Gawwwd!
This can't be happening.
My heart's pounding so freaking loud. Senior Manager at Twenty? That's so far beyond anything I've ever dreamed of!
