Life's taken a toll on happiness
Once again
Spring leaves and lush sounds around
But my heart's breaking down
Your tears mixed with my blood
My harmonies don't make the cut
The sounds never reached your ears
You were oh so still
The pain that went into it
Was all for nill
Lifeless, my eyes felt
Impatient, were my hands
Closing in, my chest heavy
Your breath was all I needed
To feel
But all I felt
Was still
Deafening silence
In place of your shrill
Melody
Why me?
I wanted to watch you
Laugh and play and grow
Fall in love
Help when your heart broke
But you were oh so still
I don't know your sound
Just your face
I don't know your heart
Only the blood in your veins
But I still love you
More than anything I ever loved
